Default Security alarm

My new Z06 C7R is sounding its alarm for no apparent reason. It does set in the Florida sun although the alarm has just begun to go off last few weeks. PLEASE ADVISE.
Thanks,
Bob

If I were paranoid I'd say someone is setting it off intentionally so that you disable it out of frustration, and one time when they test it to set it off it'll be disabled, and that's when they'll break in or steal the car.

I'm not that paranoid though, so maybe the motion sensor is flaky and being set off by the heat?

You could find out where the motion sensor is and tape over it, see if that helps.

If it's an IR sensor you could literally have a bug in it too. I've had that on my property where a spider has gotten inside a driveway/lawn motion sensor and it goes off every time they crawl across the actual sensor.

There is a button inside the vehicle that can be used to disable the motion sensor. It is next to the trunk release.

Yup, that's where I would start...

Pretty sure it's the motion sensor, not the door, hood or trunk switches.

I shut off the motion sensor. Should I have the sensor replaced? or since the vehicle is parked outside in the Florida sun will the new sensor go off as did the original factory sensor?
Thanks,
Bob

It should not...and yes, replace it.

Your Z06 is now providing an early warning that you have parked it over one of Florida's famous sinkholes and the ground is starting to quiver

Make sure that your key fob isn't somewhere that an animal (or child) is pushing the panic alarm. Years ago I had a cat that loved to "march" on the remote control for my Direct TV system which was sort of cute until I came in from walking the dog and the cat had ordered an adult movie. After that the cat lost her remote access privileges

If you are confident that the alarm is going off when there isn't an event then get it to the dealer for repair. The sun doesn't affect a properly working C7 alarm.

There's motion, and there's motion.

The button, I assume, disabled the vehicle motion alarm for being on a ferry, towed, things like that.

There's also (I think) an interior motion sensor that is separate. That's two different kinds. And the button only does one.

[Edit: From reading the manual, the button disables "Intrusion and Inclination Sensors", so it appears one button does both, even though they're completely different]

I turned the sensor on the other day. Just a few min. ago it went off again with no apparent reason. I called dealer on trouble a few weeks ago but never heard back. I will call again.

Any thoughts? Is there a sensitivity adjustment on either sensor?

The last time the alarm went off (Three or more weeks ago), I returned the car to the Auto Nation Chevy Dealer in Delray Beach, FL. again to figure out why the alarm kept going off. They said the computer didn't record the alarm going off in the past three days (less then a few hours earliar). Also since they could not duplicate the alarm, they suggested I call GM/Chevy Customer Service again and ask for a special Case Number/Open a Case and they did. A few days later I called back and they gave me the name and number of the Chevy Tech who was going to handle the case. Nothing happened, no word until today, a Chevy CS rep. called to see if they could close the case. She said I needed to take it back to dealer and they have to reproduce the error and then raises the matter to the dealers internal affairs dept., or something like that. She added a tech was never going to address the open case unless the alarm goes off at the dealership. ALL I CAN SAY IS VERY CONVENIENT.

I now hope it never goes off again (not knowing why) because I know now it is like running on a hamster's wheel.

I believe when the temp outside approaches 90 deg. the motion and tilt sensor become very sensitive and the alarm triggers. Other then one time the alarm has been triggered on clear sunny days around noon. I would like to hear from anyone who parks their car outside in the full sun and temps approach 90 deg if they have had similar issues. I have turned off the motion sensor to see if the problem continues.
Thanks,
Bob

It may not be your problem but my C5 alarm began going off randomly and it ended up being a door switch. Hope the dealer is able to find the problem quickly. If there is an alarm fuse I'd pull it until hen.

Do you have a security message "THEFT ATTEMPTED" on the DIC when you get into the car and start it? Or is it possible that something in your pocket has pushed the alarm button? (This has happened to me several times on various cars / key fobs).

Just asking...
