What the center of this rear hatch mount does? I can't tell what kind of attachment it takes. I'm wondering if it's to adjust the rear hatch height? Mine is a little high on the drivers side. Thanks!

I do not know. However looking at the design it looks very similar to those on other hinges used on doors, hoods and trunks in that once loosened it can slide a small amount in either direction to make fine adjustments in alignment.

If you are comfortable recommend marking it with a scribe where it is then loosening it and moving it a bit in either direction to see if it helps your problem. If it doesn't just return it to the original mark you made with the scribe.

Thanks. I wonder if I will need to loosen the two star bolts on each side to allow the center to move? I still have no idea what bit that center one is?

Finally got up and looked at mine. The center one seems to be just a rivet and not really related to what you are trying to do.

However I think the part you want to adjust is the rubber height adjustment on the rear corner edge of the hatch itself. It screws in to lower and out to heighten the hatch. just turn it left or right until your hatch is level at the rear.

Bummer. Yeah, that rubber stop doesn't fix it

Oh wow. I didn't mean to indicate that the rivet locked the mount down. It seems the rivet isn't related to the mount at all. It looks to me the hole the rivet fits through is oversized and the mount fits over it. Not sure whats under the mount though.

However the mounts (one of 2 left and right) at the very top of the hatch that connect the hatch to the car may be the ones you should examine. They may be adjustable and the left one would likely adjust the height of the upper drivers side and left side of the hatch in combination with the bumper.

You can try your original idea if that doesn't work. But after looking closer I doubt the strut will affect the height much. The 2 outside torx screws should allow the strut mount to move as we originally discussed.

I'll look into it. Thanks again
