Pulled into garage, turned car off, pushed driver side door latch button to exit car... nothing happened, pushed again, nothing happened.. again... nothing.. so pulled the door release handle to open door.
Stayed in car, closed door, restarted, turned off, pushed door latch button, door opened..
It's normal and happens when you open the door before putting the car in park. Not sure the reason for the feature but I've done it a few times myself.

I love features that make no sense.. now that you mention it, I think I might have tried to pop the door just as shifting to park.. but you would think once in park it would let you open the door.
Thanks for confirmation.. will be sure to get into park BEFORE hitting the button!
Mine popped open on me going down the highway yesterday morning. My knee was resting against it so I'm guessing if you keep pushing it for 5-10 minutes it will? I tried hitting it again so I could shut it (it only popped open enough to unseal the door but it was still latched) and it didn't work. Once I came to a light I put it into park and closed the door again... Quirks!!! LOL

Ahhh, the wisdom of the Fed is built into the C7. We don't want anyone climbing out of the car until the engine is shut off, or until you hit the "unlock" button on the door. M7 won't open at all until engine is off unless you hit the "unlock" feature...great when your wife is trying to get out at the Casino and you're waiting for the valet attendant to give you the parking ticket!

If it did that then there is something wrong with the car. That door can't open when the car is in motion unless the circuitry is messed up. I would have the dealer check out the system to see what is wrong. This isn't something that all of them do.

Any one else have door latch button failure?
I've had the problem where the button (probably from my knee hitting it) has gotten stuck permanently in the depressed position - in which case the door just remains locked once you shift into park. I had to escape from the car by using the manual release lever by the seat. I freed up the button using a small screwdriver. Its happened to me twice now.
No need to tap the button multiple times or too quickly. People have the tendency to do that, thinking it would work faster. That's not the case, you just have a higher chance of ruining it!

My 2-week old C8 also has the door latch button failure, but only on one side. Pressing the button on the passenger side opens the door. No pressure on the door is required. Pressing the button on the drivers door partially unlatches the door, but it will not open. If pressure is applied to the door to help the unlatch, the driver's door will open. When I let people drive my car, they have to be taught how to open the door.
The owners manual states, "To open the door from the inside, press the door unlatch button." It says nothing about applying pressure to the door.
I scheduled a service appointment, as in addition to this, I have discolored interior metal trim, and poorly applied leather on the hand rest for the mode ****. Hmmm...
