1 day old and broken!
Hello, i am a new Z06 owner. Bought my black Z06 coupe last Wednesday and the following day on the way home from work it threw an error code "rear axle system failure". The next day it was throwing the code every minute on my way to work and the traction control light would activate when "lightly" cornering.
Took it in to the dealer (with only 400 miles) and they said the rear differential hydraulic pump assembly needs replacing and that component is on back order until al least 10/10/16.
So I have a 4 cyl Equinox loaner and they have $74,000 of mine and my Z06. I am not a happy bunny. Has anyone else had anything similar? I am going to invoke the Florida Lemon law notice after 15 days.
Any advice and help would be welcome...as would any alcohol.

It always amazes me that GM can find the needed parts to keep the assembly line going but doesn't keep enough stock parts to replace failed parts. I would be pissed, get in touch with GM customer service and tell them how disappointed you are spending that amount of money on the corvette and you can't even get 500 miles. It may not change anything but you never know, there are strings that can be pulled by GM to speed the part delivery if you bitch enough they might respond.
Good Luck

First very sorry to hear that. Not cool. But it may come back fixed and just like new. Or the other option you mentioned. Good advice above. Save the alcohol for positive occasions.

It's under warranty, let them fix it. If you go Lemon Law, it's really painful to get it approved in just about every state, some it takes a lawyer, and all states it takes a lot of your time.
I had a similar situation after 2000 miles, high press fuel pump started dumping fuel into the oil, and it all came back out the air box on my garage floor. Pump was on back order and they kept the car 3.5 weeks. Dealer couldn't get much response from GM. My service advisor asked me to call the GM customer service line and complain which I did. Dealer had the pump 2 days later.
My service advisor was able to comp me $1K for keeping the car so long. They will do the same for you. They offer you to make your car payment for the month up to $1k. Since I wasn't making payments on the car, I turned it into 2 new tires for when my Cups wear out.

Went in and changed the Equinox for a 2017 4cyl turbo Camaro, which I have to say, is not bad at all. But, yes, I am driving like I stole it.
I know, the good thing about this is that i will have a Z06 in a couple of weeks. I must keep reminding myself that I am lucky.....

my rear end was making a whining noise at 200 miles at 40 mph.the boards said bad rear end.no warning lights.took it in and service wrier agreed with me.they order a new rear end and told me to leave the car until it came in.i told him no way and drove it until it came in a week later.under warrenty,if it broke they had to fix it anyway.well they had the car 2 days put in the new rear end.3000 miles later everything still ok.

Guy can't even lemon law the car; the problem needs to occur 3 times in the first year or be in the shop for a (commulative) 30 days.
GM will get it straight. You could ask them for a goodwill payment, but doubtful you'll get anything.
Get the car and enjoy it!

I would like to know what happened to quality control at GM. There are too many defective parts being assembled on brand new cars. The low cost suppliers are providing defective parts and that should not be acceptable to GM.

Six sigma production is the goal of any manufacturing gig, 99.99% of parts should be good; this means 1 out of a 10,000 will be bad. Compound that with all the parts on the car, there quality control isn't as bad as you would think.

If any of the above is true I wouldn't draw any conclusions about systemic reliability just yet because it is a fairly new technology as applied in sport cars.
