I've been reading in this forums for a couple months now and have learned a lot. Thanks for all the info. Onto my situatation.
I have narrowed down my choices to a M7 2LZ with a certain color combo and I thought a 2016, but a 2015 3LZ Z07 popped up closer in my area and if I can get a better deal on it I was thinking maybe save me a road trip on the 2016. What exactly am I sacrificing besides Car Play? I really wanted to run Waze from my phone to the navigation screen on the car. Has anyone been successful at this as well? Sorry if this has been covered already but I couldn't seem to find it.
Thanks for any info you can give me on this.

Have not been able to get Waze to play on screen. Only Apple maps. Not all apps are available with carplay.
Has anyone gotten Waze to work on Car Play or Android Auto?
I am very interested in the same. I researched this a few weeks ago for my iPhone and my 17 Z that is on order. I did not order nav/PDR as only waze has the police position reports and user input on traffic conditions.
Here is what I gleaned from many posts on the subject:
-Apple car play will not be compatible with waze for the foreseeable future. Conflicts of interest with google/waze, apple
-Android auto will be compatible with waze with the next release of android. Phones bought today will come with one rev back so you will need to update OS when available... hopefully available now or in the next few months.
You would probably get more answers from a separate post on the subject.
I have been a long time apple phone user but switching to android just so waze shows up on the center screen when by z is built

Very few apps work on CarPlay and IMO the system is useless. Text messages are painful as you have to listen to them verbally via Siri. Ever listen to Siri try to dictate a WEB URL that someone sends you? Ughh....
All the points made above can be overcome on any car. You can buy cameras, curb alert, video recorders, garmin GPS to use on any car....they are cheaper and better. Front cameras can run through an app on your phone.
The Carplay is improving every year but has a ways to go. There is an interface sold by a vendor here on the forum that claims to mirror your phone to the radio screen. Mixed opinions on that.
Got to ask what do you want to do with Waze? I mean you turn it on and it warns you of whets ahead verbally. If your intention is to "post" to Waze do you think that is worth the risk? It does have a nice map but no nicer then other apps or systems?

I think CarPlay is a useless gimmick, but I've already stated that above.
A display is a very effective tool while using Waze. It allows you to see where the threats are long before the app actually announces them. Waze would be useless if nobody reported anything.

Another difference is in 2016 you can order a exposed carbon fiber stinger on the hood. In 2015, only stickers were available. The exposed carbon fiber pattern on the hood matches the roof panel that comes in exposed carbon fiber.

Android auto still has issues too. I have approached several dealers in the D-FW area about doing the install. Each and every one of them wanted the car left. Evidently, and validated by the service writers at the second and third I stopped at, is that the download will hang up from time to time. This causes them to have to delete and start over again. No thanks, phone in the cup holder works fine. Thankfully, I live in country south of D-FW and the need for waze is nil.
