Just heard from Spring Mountain that they had a cancellation for a Level 2 spot in December, which I jumped on. Little surprised there is an upgrade fee for a ZO6, but nothing is free.
Level 2 is very cool. Less time on 'exercises', more time on 'open lapping' with transponders in the car. Some laps are with an instructor in the car with you providing, real time instruction /. coaching on technique. Level 2 is two days only..... Exhausted after each day in level two. much more intense than level one.
I did level 1 and 2 in a Stingray. Level 2 is fun because you know what to expect. Also for each level we used alternate tracks which was a lot more interesting.
When I got the Z and inquired about going back, there was a level 3 at one time......... and heard the $4200 price tag I decided I could do a lot of local track time for that amount of money.
I was offered a Stingray price which was a lot less but with travel and the like there are many $300 track days I can buy locally.

Anyone been? Any recommendations? Thanks.
I got sucked in by the "extensive" open lapping claim.
The extensive open lapping was 2 sessions which were both cut short when some old fart failed at throttle steering on turn 1. They will shut down the whole session if someone goes into the gravel.
It was only about 3 o'clock, asked about a make-up session, received a blank stare in return.
Did not get more than 1 clean lap in a row!
Don't waste your money.
The rest of the class sessions were the same as level 1.

Total waste of time and $!
Hope I don't become another "old fart" to screw things up!
Like many others, I found L2 to be an awesome experience and will do again. If you want just open lapping with tons of cars around then you can just sign up for a regular track day. L2 is about practicing fundementals at a slightly faster pace. With only 10 cars on the track in the opening lapping (at most), there are lots of way to get clean laps without anyone around. I would do L2 again for sure.
I thought Level 2 was pretty decent. I did it ~2 years ago. We had a good amount of open lapping and the weather was awesome since I went in the winter.
We pretty much did open lapping a big chunk of the 2nd day starting before lunch.
Like others, I was planning to attend the Level 3 course, but it's non-existent even though SM had still shown it on their website for over a year. Now it's been removed. I had heard the Level 3 course was pretty much all open lapping with transponders and no braking/turn in markers so would be very cool.

I did my Level 2 last December and enjoyed it very much. One thing though... I arranged to do a repeat of the Level 1 third day the day before my Level 2 started, so it was like a warm up with a full day of open lapping before my Level 2 started. Worth the extra cost if you can arrange it.
