Default Brake question

Put on the Power Stop pads few weeks ago, did the burnishing as they recommend. After 200 miles not satisfied with early bite or feel so am switching back to originals. Question is this: do I really need to redo burnishing since only going back with original pads or should I just clean up rotors with brake cleaner & regrease old pad piston contact areas? Something else came to mind while thinking about this. What does GM do about burnishing new brakes before delivery to me? Thanks!

Bedding, or burnishing pads, is used to create a transfer layer of friction material from the pad to the rotor. When you change compounds you generally want to do a new bedding/burnishing as the old layer may not be compatible or work well. With stock pads and not tracking, it really is not all that important.

There is no burning/bed procedure done on new brakes at delivery. You have to build up the tranfer layer by driving the car and/or doing a bedding procedure.

I know this is not your question, but I too have noticed the difference in early bite or feel, however for my particular application ( no track or road course etc) the trade off is worth it. I'm just a street driver guy at the moment and having to clean my wheels every 50 feet ( well you know) was just too ridiculous.

I'm kinda surprised to hear y'all say that. I've got their street and track pads that I use accordingly and couldn't be happier with them both. Especially as easy as they are to change.

Yeah I do hear you but I pickup quite a bit of road dust anyway & just really felt the Brembo pads stop with more authority (quicker) but no real test to compare, just not fan of softer bite. I put the power stops on at about 800 miles & only have 1600 now (2 months).I just drive mine & clean wheels when washing (not ****). And by the way getting black wheel nuts to hide on my black painted wheels (maybe I'm **** after all!)
