Default PDR unable to update

I've been attempting to update my PDR for months. The dealership has had it 3 times. They've tried updating and it fails. They tried replacing the PDR module and it won't take the update and have flashed it back to the old calibration so it at least works. They say they will try one more time to update and if it doesn't work it's related to my aftermarket modifications. Maybe it's my camshaft or my stickers causing the PDR module not to update.

Fed up with the dealership, I took matters into my own hands. I had my buddy Rich at Abel Chevrolet send me an SD card with the update file. I tried downloading the calibration myself. Every time it gets to 27% and then says the update failed to download. Insert a card with a valid calibration file.

I've tried numerous times. Tried checking codes to make sure there were no communication failures between modules. Nothing works. every time it just goes to 27% and stops. Any suggestions?

Default the green tint update?

Just curious Jason what PDR update are you speaking of? The one from awhile back that improves picture quality or something else. Thanks

I had issues as well. I don't remember what they were but there's a thread out there that had the files where I believe I posted my issue and fix. If anyone still needs the files I have them PM me.

I had my PDR software updated in September. It changed how the PDR works. With the new software it is harder to get mark the finish line so you can get lap times. I was at CMP in SC over the weekend and it took me several sessions to get a mark placed. Instead of listing mark start/finish line like it used to it just says mark finish line. Then when you push mark finish line it takes you to another page which has a mark finish line icon on it, when you touch that icon sometimes it goes to another page with a picture showing the car with its front bumper over a finish line with another icon to push. When this sequence occurred I could never set the finish line while the car was moving which is difficult to do on track or when moving in a line headed to pit out. Other times it would skip the sequence with the picture and just indicate the finish line had been marked. However, that only worked when the car was on track. The one time I was able to stop in pit lane at the start finish line with the hot track just on the other side of a guard rail it wouldn't mark the line on the track and I didn't get any lap times. To get lap times I had to be on track when the icon was touched.

The other thing I noticed when I was at VIR a couple of weeks before is the display seems to be darker. The weather was scattered clouds and when I was in a cloud's shadow it was difficult to see the car right in front of me in the video.

I am thinking of having the dealership restore the previous software.

i got the update from phantasm and had no issue was updated in about 5-10 minutes.

did the try replacing sd card slot at all? try some canned in there i know it sounds dumb but maybe try that and then try the programming again.

when i flashed mine i held in start button for about 5 seconds til the all the accessories turned on fuel pump etc... but obviously did not start the car.

does it make it through the 1st phase where it downloads the file and restarts the pdr software and then when it starts extracting where it gets stuck at 27%??

night and day difference on mine when flashed.

Sai do you load the file on the SD Card and then do something? Or do you use a USB?

I would try a file from another source. It's possible that file the dealer is using is corrupt for some reason. Just a possibility.

Jason,

Hamilton Chevy on Mound did my update on the PDR with no issues. They got the SD card with update files directly from the Tech center and it took them 15 mins to flash the update. Maybe give them a call and try it there.

Is there anything else sitting on the CAN network that isn't factory? Perhaps another module is responding to a message at that point in the update when it's not supposed to? Have you had any issues with any other modules besides PDR?

I considered that. The DSC Sport suspension control module is on the CAN, but we don't think that's the problem. There is a code in the HMI module which might be causing the issue. We are pursuing getting that code fixed then trying again.

Have you added anything that can be seen on the CAN BUS by the other modules? DCS Suspension module or something similar?

Sometimes those aftermarket modules will interfere with the net traffic and cause problems. I haven't seen it on a C7 but I have on other vehicles.
