I was out at Sonoma Raceway last week. After running a 10.606 and 10.65, my car on the third run went into "reduced power mode" after the 1000' and ended up coasting through the lights with a 10.82@ 118. I shut off the motor and restarted and the "reduced power" icon was still there. I read the code on my scanner (I always carry one in the back of the car), and it read P228C which is low fuel pressure and cleared the code. The next day, I contacted the always informative Rich at Abel Chevrolet and he said the culprit could be a bad fuel pump, bad sensor, bad wiring or a hiccup. Running a quarter tank, I suppose it's possible for the pickup to suck air and lose pressure for an instant. Their diagnostic test was to run 5-6 full throttle runs through 2nd and 3rd gears to see if the code comes back. I think I just take it out to the track next week. Just wondering if anyone else has run across this code at the track. Thanks
Do you have mods that would increase the fuel requirements? Sounds like you could be reaching the limits of the factory high pressure pump, as a guess.

Just boltons; Halltech cai, Borla xpipe and drag radials.
I had this code thrown on my session or my first track day last year. I had a full -- like totally topped off full -- fuel tank. Cleared it while at the track, ran the rest of the day and it didn't come back. Scan at the dealer 4-6 weeks later showed nothing. Dealer tech had no useful info other than to suggest not running with a totally topped off full fuel tank. I've done 5-6 track days since then with no issue. Hoping your issue is a similar "hiccup."

Good to hear I'm not the only one and that yours hasn't resurfaced. Hopefully I'll be as lucky. Thanks for the response.
I usually (most of the time at the strip) run a 1/4 tank all the way down to the 'fuel light' coming on (which is time to quite or add gas ) and have never seen "reduced power". I'm also glad to see (2+ years) that the problem was the dreaded "hiccup".
Just a thought on my part but I was thinking of adding a fuel cleaner that has lubricant in it (if there is one) every now & then. Just to add to this thought "maybe" the lube getting into the combustion chamber/rings might reduce the cylinder friction further.
