Default Mixing E85 with pump 93

Was wondering if anyone knows if it's safe to mix E85 with pump 93 gas, to say maybe 20 percent and if that would even be safe? If so, would it even be safe, and make a difference in power and our performance? Just curious after seeing so many folks doing conversions to full E85.

Personally, I wouldn't do it unless it was tuned... The being said, I believe that the C7 holds about 16.5 gallons. 20% would be a little over 3 gallons. Would it actually hurt anything, probably not, but why chance it as any gains would be negligible.

I appreciate the reply sTz. I figured the gains would probably be small, but I was looking for a slight boost in octane without the need for more expensive Torco, etc. Just a thought I had after seeing so many E85 conversions going on.

If you are really wanting to use the benefits of E85. I would recommend installing an actual Flex Fuel sensor to your car. This can be done relatively cheap and then once tuned. You can fill up with either fuel at whatever % mixture and you car will run to optimum performance. If you would like I can set you with such a system.

Mixing is good, as long as the air/fuel is right.

I have done 2 gallons or less with CA 91 just to increase the octane table a little. I found it ran a little better and cooler on track compared to 91 and I found that 10 gallons of race fuel mixed with 91 ran a little hotter and pulled timing.

That said, I would not do it often as the system is not set up for it.
