Default Headers vs. X-Pipe/Cat Back?

Question fellas...

Whats the real power difference if any of getting long tube headers vs. getting something like a Corsa X-Pipe and Extreme Exhaust? I know both allow more flow but which delivers more power? Would having all 3 work even better or would diminishing returns begin to happen because of lack of back pressure?

Thanks and Merry Christmas!

Headers for sure. X-pipe and axle back might get you 5 to 8 HP vs LT headers over 30 HP but would require dyno tune. Tune might void your warranty. Also LT headers might cause other issues like melting some components or wires if left close to the headers.

You're going to pick up a few additional ponies with headers, but some of those are from the tune. Some have installed headers without tuning, but I have no experience with that... Hopefully someone will chime in.

Corsa claims an additional 20 hp/15 tq on the Stingray w/their X-pipe and Xtremes- at the 5:28 mark (I have yet to see any results for the Z06):

I have borla x-pipe and magna flow mufflers. Doubt the power increase is noteworthy, but holy ****, the noise difference is worth every penny.

Headers make a HUGE difference but doing headers on my last 2 LS cars, i don't think i'm doing headers on my Z. I know i'll get the best gains but i hated hearing the valvetrain when you do headers, finding exhaust leaks after a year when the bolts start to come loose. This car is too new to want to deal with that again lol.

Maybe in a couple of years but right now no. You're better off just doing the x-pipe. For more noise. And keep your exhaust flaps open to hear it.

Wait you have a Z right? The stock exhaust manifolds are fine for what it is.

Not as huge as you think. Main cat delete kit with corsair x pipe will give great gains plus cooler oil temps. Pm me for info my main carb delete great bang for buck and main restriction is out first set of cats. Oem manifolds flow very good
