Z06 pricing after ZR1
Planning on ordering a GS 3lt in spring. After seeing all this talk about ZR1 got me wondering about Z06 pricing after ZR1 comes out. My thinking on GS was that coming from a C5 a new GS would have more hp than I would need and the extra cost for the additional hp could be used else where. Will ZR1 bring price of Z06 closer to GS pricing where the gap between the two might make worth spending extra be it by discounts or sticker price. I will not be tracking car just cruising around and going to local cruise nights. I know a lot of responses will be you can't ever have enough hp!!!

No, the supercharged Z06 will not suddenly become close in price to the non-supercharged GS simply because the ZR1 comes out.
The GS will be plenty fast, but in for a penny, in for a pound: get the Z.

Like most posts, this is my personal opinion. I went from '14 Z51 'Ray to 16' Z06. I also had a C5 way back so I kinda have a feel for where your at in thinking. I'm not sure you really need to pay more for the GS than a C7 Z51 if you plan on doing what you stated. The GS is just a more "track" type with suspension upgrades & you just want to cruise so no need for the upgrade. I really!! think you would be very happy with the Stingray. But not knowing your age & the age you act on the road you may want the 650hp beast but it is a huge, huge jump from the C5 & entirely different to drive w/o it getting away from you if one gets too froggy with the right foot! I shouldn't say but I'm 65 but have been running for 35 yrs, work out with wts, elliptical & ran first (last!) marathon 2 yrs ago, so I guess I'm bragging that I'm in excellent health & travel, go on mountain hunts, solo back-packed in extremely remote Alaska (flown in by float plane to small lake) for 4 days. I sometimes like to push the edge-He He! But in the end it is your money & sometimes we here forget that. Good luck!

I think you'll see huge discounts on the Z06 after the ZR1 is announced just like there were dealers giving 20% off 2016 models when the 2017s came out. Spring probably isn't the best time to buy because that's when the car will be in the most demand, but as you get into late summer and fall I'm willing to bet there will be crazy deals to be had on Z06s.

I think ZR1 sales will be far fewer than many people anticipate. Especially with a big wing, many guys will want nothing of it. The HP doesn't lure me from the Z06 since the power is already mostly useless except during my track days. Even then, the Z06 devours most cars at any track day. And mine has never overheated. So while my id wants a ZR1, there is essentially no justification for me to buy one. Unless the price is very close to the Z06, it won't hurt Z06 sales. Even then the GS exists within 15k of a Z06 and GM sells them like hot cakes. The Z06 will be fine.

If folks can afford a new $90-100K 2 seater that most drive less than 6K miles per year, you can bet they can afford $110-125K. If they are vette people or want the latest they will get it. So yes, this will directly impact Z06s. If this car comes out this fall.... the pricing once it gets cold again at the end of the season is going to drive 2017s to 20% for sure, and 15-16s will be in the 57-66K range depending on options. AKA $57K car next fall is a $65K car now... a Z07 3LZ that sells for $75K (used) now will be a $66K car next fall/winter.

Gotta love the tire kickers.. I heard we will be lucky to get 35k for a Z07 in July, with all the over heating and all. Then the kickers buy the cheapest they can find and it's worth double cause they own it. Lmao. Z06 prices aren't going anywhere fast.

Bet the ZR1 will start at like 119,999 msrp.
they'll do the 1ZR 2ZR and 3ZR. Bet the 3ZR is 139,999. And they'll sell. Because money is out there and guys like the guy on here with the Aventador and the Z06 will buy it cause he can. More power to him and them.
the 1ZR will entice the guy lookin at the 115k Z06/Z07.
no way they will overlap the ZR1 and Z06. They didn't come close last time why does Anyone expect different?

Wondering if GM is holding off on introducing the ZR1 for a few months so they don't torpedo the '17 Z06 sales. The C6 Z06 sales dropped to almost nothing after the Grand Sport and ZR1 came out - only 4.3% of sales in 2010:
2010 Corvettes Produced Amount Percent
Coupes 3,054 25.1%
Convertibles 1,003 8.2%
Grand Sport Coupes 3,707 30.4%
Grand Sport Convertibles 2,335 19.2%
Z06 518 4.3%
ZR1 1,577 12.9%

Total 12,194 100%

The Z06 prices aren't going to go any lower. GM is going to price a higher performance model C7 higher than the Z06 and it will sell to the demographic who can afford to pay more. Th GS is taking some Z06 sales and the new model will take some Z06 sales. The only way it would go up in price is if the new model is a replacement for rhe Z06 and buyers scramble for o buy leftover Z06s
