The Girodisc system is a direct replacement for the OE disc
The central hat section of our rotor is made from strictly U.S. sourced 6061-T6 aircraft specification aluminum. The disc is made from our own proprietary cast iron, poured in the USA and machined from start to finish in house at Girodisc. The rotor utilizes a curved vane design, developed in racing to act as a centrifugal pump to force cooling air through the disc.
The rotor and hat have a floating mount system, which utilizes 8 or 10 high strength alloy steel drive pins, manufactured by Girodisc in the USA to our own specifications and cadmium plated for a long lasting corrosion resistance. These pins take the load from braking actions while maintaining the axial and radial float between the hat and disc. The pins are secured by grade 12 cap screws with hardened washers. In order to keep the rotors from making noise when cold, the pins are mounted with anti-noise spring washers on the rotor side which allow the rotor to grow with heat expansion but eliminate the rattle and noise associated with floating rotors. This float also allows the rotor to self center between the pads.

Once the Girodisc system is in place, simply replace the cast iron rotor when needed.

I have 2016 Z06/Z07 and want to get a complete price on swapping out the rotors and pads. Do you also stock the pad? What brand and compound do you recommend for a dual use (street and HPDE)?

Does the caliper get discolored from the heat/tracking the car with iron rotors? My 2013 Camaro ZL1 Calipers turned from black to a bronze color. I have also seen non-Z06 corvettes that discolor their calipers from tracking due to the hear. Does it happen with C7 Z06?

Many factors enter into why a caliper turns colors. Obviously heat is the cause of the paint changing colors, but the excess heat is not a direct result of the rotors (i.e. Iron vs. CCM). Brake pad selection is a factor, again a street pad when asked to do the work of a race pad is not capable or designed to dissipate the heat generated during high speed braking therefore the excess heat is transferred to the caliper heating up the brake fluid and caliper causing the caliper to discolor. Running with traction control on will generate excess heat due to the fact the computer senses the car is out of control and starts applying the brakes to bring the car back into control. We have seen numerous situations of discolored calipers on CCM equipped Corvettes and the calipers turned gold when the traction control is on. The matching of components to the task at hand is important. Once you decide to track your car it is no longer a street car it is a track car or race car. Asking street designed components to handle the rigors of track conditions and abuse regardless of what the manufacture claims is asking a lot. Components designed for track use is always the best when tracking your car. The Girodisc are designed for track use. The central hat section of our rotor is made from strictly U.S. sourced 6061-T6 aircraft specification aluminum. The disc is made from their own proprietary cast iron, poured in the USA and machined from start to finish in house at Girodisc. The rotor utilizes a curved vane design, developed in racing to act as a centrifugal pump to force cooling air through the disc. While there are numerous pads selection available from tons of manufactures asking a street pad to do the work of a track pad will not work you may have to change pads for the track and for the street.

Just asking..

I know it says direct replacement

I have a ZO7 with CCM and I am interested in replacing the CCM for your Rotors. Yours are the exact same size at the ZO7 CCM stock rotors?

Cant find the size listed anywhere.

Thanks

Bolts right up same size as the factory rotors, hundreds of them operating daily on both the track and the street. The necessary pad shape is FMSI 1405 which we can provide in several different compounds and manufactures depending on your application.
