Track Day prep
Just finished at the dealer:
1) Rear diff flushed - Mobil1 Delvac with GM friction modifier
2) Transmission flushed - ATF4
3) Brake fluid flushed - Castrol SRF
4) Oil change - Synthetic 5w50 (not 10w50)
5) New brake pads - DTC 60/70
6) Installed GMPP brake ducts and backing plates
7) Previously installed GMPP auxiliary cooler
8) Favorite part, numbers inbound now
Up next a trip to DSC for the mag controller and alignment.

Hitting the track for the first time in a Z06 so I'll be burning up the stock ZP's and learning how the Z handles. After these are done I'll go to the MPSS non-run flats. Once I get comfortable after 2 or 3 events I'll be looking for dedicated wheel/slick combo.

What's your first event going to be?
BTW, I drove a friend's Z51 that had the non runflat MPSS on them. I didn't really care for them but I can't quite put my finger on why. The car just seemed to move around a lot on them. I know the construction is different than the run flat MPSS that were designed for the C7.

I had standard super sports on my CTS-V. Very soft squishy side walls. It helped daily driving comfort but I emphatically would NOT want them on my Z06.

I would have preferred that the car came without RFTs tbh, but it was designed around the characteristics of the RFT MPSS/MPSC2's, and imho when you change out the tyre to a non-RFT, you could potentially upset the handling 'gestalt' that GM designed into the car.

Not sure if you're running the Cup2 or Super Sports but both are surprisingly capable - especially when fresh.

Yup, Track Daze. I'll be running MPSS ZP run flats, not SC2's. Just want to get familiar with the car. Coming out of the heavier CTS-V running 2:15's on slicks I want to inch my way towards the Z's capabilities.

For instance you should run in Track Mode Sport 1 unless it is wet until you get used to the car and how PTM mode works. Wet mode works great on a wet track and can provide a very good lesson on how PTM works before you try it on a dry track.
