Default Competition Seat conversion question

Hi All,

Has anyone done the conversation to the competition seats?

I have a 2016 3LZ z06/z07 with approx. 275 miles on it and I wanted to move from the GT seats to the competition seats. How had is it to do the conversion yourself? Do the seats look at good as seats that came from the factory as competition seats? Anything else I should know about or ask?

Thanks in advance!

Jordan

Just curious: are you swapping them based solely for the looks? or for the form/function as well?

Hi Z06NJ,

Both, I do like the look better but I also plan on adding 5pt seat belts and a roll cage. So I do want the additional form and function.

Thanks!

Jordan

I did the conversion on mine. The worst part is by far getting the rubber piping on the new seat cover around and in the seat back. Mine kept popping out when I sat in them so I took them to an auto upholstery shop. No problems since.

I really don't know that they hold you in any better but they certainly look better.

Hi Poor-sha,

Do you mind if I ask you where you purchased the conversion from and the approx. cost?

Thanks,

Jordan

5 point belt will not work with those seats. 4 point Schroth ASM or 6 point where you sit on the sub belts. 5 point means running the sub belt over the front of the seat which is a big NO NO since it pulls the lap belt away from the pelvis and increases the likelihood of submarining under the lap belt.

Suburban Chevy aka Trunk Monkey. I think they go by subchevy on the forum. I don't recall what I paid at this point.

Has anyone ordered this conversion? I tried and was told that they are back ordered and no idea when they may be available.they may not again. Cost of the conversion varied one vendor was 1680 and the other 1775. Neither one had or could get them predictable.

We have had a run on these, and have back ordered GM on many of the items needed to complete. We are working on hard on completing as fast as possible. We are happy to help you in anyway we can!

Quick question subchev:
- if you were to assemble these seats for someone what is the approx. labor cost?

Thanks,

Jordan

We have only sold the parts out, not done any here in our shop. Some guys are having upholstery companies or doing themselves in their own garage.

The holes in the competition seat backs seam low for a true 5 or 6 pt harness. I am 6'2" and the comp seat holes would put the belts at an unacceptable angle.
