Mine was listed at 103K and they had it marked down from the dealership to 80K. You can find deals like this anywhere.

Yeah, you made the right choice by walking away. The airplane ticket was chump change. You'll find another, more reliable deal. Call one of the big dealers, they often have crazy good deals. They'll ship the car to you! Good luck, hope you find another!

As most have already stated, I think you made the right decision walking. The transaction does not feel "warm and fuzzy." If the guy was serious about selling you the car, he never would have let you walk. It's sad, but there are a lot of ugly people out there.

In Arizona you have to go to a Notary, he signs the Notaries Book after they take his information on his Drivers License, then he signs on the back of the title releasing ownership, the Notary signs and stamps with their Notary Seal - that's it, the section above is where you fill in your information as the new owner, you then take that back to the State you live in and they will issue you a new title and registration at your DMV. In Arizona someone cannot just sign the title, it has to be notarized and signed in front of the Notary. You do not need a signed bill of sale, it is nice to have that along with the Notarized Title though.

OP good luck in your search. You'll find the right one.

on the sales side of it. I too was in a strange dilemma as the purchaser of my C6 (a long time member on this forum), wanted to fly in and drive my car home. Not a big deal but I was dead set on cash.

to complicate things, he couldn't fly in for a month and i didn't want to be tied down to him for a month as I knew my price was very aggressive. But I wanted him to get the car and he really wanted my exact options.

he agreed to send me a cashier's check for the full amount. Once it cleared, about 3 days, I waited an additional week before sending him the signed title (agreed upon ahead of time at the advice of my bank as there are still some options for the "sender" of the check in extreme circumstances albeit civil). I also did a very detailed bill of sale with agreements signed by both of us. I gave him the original and i kept a copy.

he flew in a month later and drove from NJ to CA.

neither of us ever did something like that before. I spoke with him numerous times and more power to him, I would have never sent someone money like that. I would bet it's 8 or 9 oit of 10 times no issues. But it would be a hell of a thing to be that guy lol

Good to be home. Buying used is probably a hassle more times than not. A good portion of high dollar corvette owners that I talk to have liens. This means that I would purchase the car in hopes that the seller pays off his lien, gets a title in the mail a couple weeks thereafter from their bank, signs the title and mails it to me. There's a lot of trust involved. In the meantime I wouldn't be able to register or drive the car because my one day temporary permit has expired.

As far as financing, many are because rates are around 1.99%, cheap money.

I was able to get a bit over 20% off MSRP on our 2016 Z06/Z07, MSRP was 108K, I think it wound up being 84/85K plus fees.

If I buy a car cash meaning 100 dollars bills how will I prove I own it? Title in hand and a written note seems flimsy. Can't the seller claim it was stolen claiming the title was in the glove compartment?

Hopefully you'd get a bill of sale with his signature. Also leaving a signed or notarized title in your glovebox is a pretty poor excuse in my book.

With fees I imagine you have to be around 93k

The whole story seems like a scam. Go to Car Cash or the same kind of place and sell it. Why did this guy have such a big story. He gets this one time free bee in life....Car Cash to simple.
