You are correct. They direct the exhaust sound away from the sound monitor 400-500 feet beyond turn 5 and on the way uphill to turn 6. Though i really don't know how much they are helping as the ZR1 has a deep thunderous sound that's pretty damn loud.

Default It's loud because of California!? ;)

Again, we don't know that is a ZR1 doing anything. Why not a Z07 testing?! Thank you very much!

I'd like to thank you and SBC for posting all this good info. I'd love to see and hear these beasts in person, but you guys are doing a great job of bringing it to the rest of us. FYI, I spent the first 12 or so years of my life in your area (actually born in Carmel) and, when I go to LS, I stay at my Dad's old house about 3 miles on the Salinas side of the front entrance. Tons of good memories there. Please keep the goods coming.

You have to start reading the whole thread if you want to comment logically. It is a ZR1. Period !! Completely different sound than the ZO6 that was also running there with them. Sometimes very close to one another where you could differentiate between the two. Also the huge hood bulge to cover the bigger supercharger which most likely requires a larger diameter exhaust system. Too many different things going on with this car to just call it a upgraded ZO6. No, I will put money on the ZR1 Nomenclature.

This new ZR1 will be a neat rig. Look forward to it.

I'll bet a six pack the front fascia and added cooling of the new ZR1 are NOT handed down to the Z06. At least not at first. I bet GM will want the King of the Hill ZR1 to have that exclusive - at least for a while to help differentiate the models.

If the ZR gets the new Eaton 2.65l huffer - the mod potential on that will be fun as well.

GM isn't concerned about litigation relative to these two models.

I would agree with that, but if the C7 Z06 will be in production much longer it is something that should be addressed.
Perhaps the front fascia of the ZR1 can be slapped on the Z06 to allow better airflow and aiding cooling?

I think it would a slap in current (and future) Z06 owners if this camo car is a ZR1 and they effectively fix the cooling issues that have plagued the Z06 both on and off the track and not pass any of those improvements on to the 2018 Z06.

The improvements on this test camo mule obviously have some hint of aftermarket fixes that have been around a couple of years for the Z06 so if GM doesn't at least offer the functional cosmetic changes, cooling vetns/fans, etc. to the Z06, GM is basically saying they were wrong about the Z06 being the most track capable Corvette ever and their "fix" is an entirely new model with different engine and different cooling elements.

I would think the new Z06 would have a low wing like the ZL1, and the fascia cooling all inclusive, but, you have another scenario!? Great marketing, but...
What did those Z06's look like? They were quieter, okay. Did they have the fascia openings? Spoilers still? Maybe they were older and camo themselves? Possible?

John, the ZO6 that was running was most likely a 2018 specification. It looked identical to the 2017 though.
