I was told by the Chevy dealer who sold me the car that if you park a C7 Corvette (with an M7 transmission) in reverse, it is designed to put less drain on the battery than if it is parked in any forward gear -- better for when the car is being stored and/or not driven for longer periods of time. I'm not sure if this is true, but I park my car geared in reverse most of the time just in case.

Nope - not true!!
The manual transmission 2005 C6 needed to be parked in reverse, but that feature was removed with the 2006 model year.
The guy at your dealership is giving out 12 year old info!!
I had a manual 2005 (actually still owned by my brother-in-law), and then I had a 2006 Z06 (they were all manual) until last year when it was traded in on my 2016 M7 Z06.
Bottom line - the manual trans 2005 required it, anything since 2006 does not.
Here is another one . When your car is locked (armed) the alarm will sound if your jack the car up. I'm assuming it's the 2LZ and 3LZ with the advanced alarm system

This screws me all the time. You can push the button to turn off the motion detector but that doesn't seem to work all the time. I keep my key in my hand when lifting the car on my lift or whenever I start towing the car on the trailer. I have turned the motion detector off driven the rig 100 miles, stopped at a rest area and when I start to pull out of the parking area the damned alarm goes off.
When I get out of the car at the track I usually throw my helmet in the passenger seat and an hour or so later when I want to put my helmet on the alarm will go off if I reach in the window to get it.

Thanks for the info...I figured as much. My son has a 2008 C6. His battery died over the winter. Our fault because we knew better...we needed to unhook the battery. We replaced it and let the car parked for 3 weeks (in reverse). That battery died too. There must be something else draining the battery -- more than normal -- but the parking it in reverse certainly didn't help. And now I know that parking mine in reverse won't make any difference either, so I won't concern myself with it any longer. Thanks so much, Guys!
3 weeks sitting unused---my 2008 Z06 would have died. If I wasn't using any of the c6's I had for more than a week to 10 days tops, I would have to put them on the battery tender. Especially, if the battery was 15-18 months or older. If the battery was 2-3 years old I heard many stories from folks in my club of the batteries dying after 10-14 days or so.
Folks much smarter than myself claimed the C6's just have such much electronic stuff going on, even when the car is off, that the batteries tend to drain pretty quick.
The one time I did go almost 3 weeks with a 2006 I had----sure enough, the battery died on me.
As for putting the car in reverse, etc.........in the fifties and early 60's we were taught to always put the car in reverse on standards (we were weaned that it was a 'stronger' gear and would hold better than the others); and we were also raised to only use the emergency brake if we had to-----otherwise it could 'freeze' in the on position. It wasn't until a year or so ago I started to use my emergency brake on our cars-----not bad, only took me 50 years to get over what I was taught when I was 16........................I still leave the vettes parked in reverse though.................
