Sure, but I'd also rather drive the other cars I listed because I could actually hear them. A good exhaust note is an important part of the driving experience to me.

I wonder if pulling this strip would let any of the trapped hot air out of the engine compartment?

0-60 they dominate but that's it. Roll race a tesla and a ZO6 will pull it hard.

The whine on my stock 2016 Z06 is what I would classify as very mild (from the cabin)...and I have owned quite a few S/C vehicles over the years.

I for one love the stock sound, sounds like a race car. Do not like SC whining. I mean I'm driving a Z06 not a F'in Hellcat.....

Any downside to this: dirt, debris, rain, car wash, etc?

And is that 2 pieces above the green, or just the 1 piece below the arrows? (I can't check because my car isn't built yet )

Its only a rubber piece that is mostly there to prevent water from a carwash from splashing on the back side of the engine. I came up with this idea to help with engine cooling. It worked good since I tracked over 35 events in a year and never once overheated. The side effect was the increase in sound. Only negative is when you are washing the car and the soap runs down the windshield it can splash on back of motor. I never put mine back on once I took it off. Never had any issues. I guess you could put it back on when washing if it concerned you. Only takes about 45 secs to remove and 2 mins to replace.

I have the weatherstripping removed and when it is raining, the rain drops run off the top of the hood and then blow back up under the hood.....like cowl induction....which proves which way air is flowing with the weatherstripping removed.....

Yeah, i hear ya. But it's also plagued with QC issues that usually requires weeks to fix.

Ooooooh....a shot at a Hellcat. Well, you are right about one thing. If you like that forced air whining, whether turbo'd or S/C'd, the Hellcat's is very pronounced. It starts coming at you at about 20% throttle and the more throttle you give it, the louder it gets...inside and outside the car. You'll definitely know when that car is going into "beast mode". Actually, a very nice car, strong runner and comfortable. It's not a track machine but it has some definite pluses to go along with the minus that a lot of people talk about.

Who cares. Still looks like any other vanilla family car. Does zero for me.

I'm wondering about this now, as far as heat issues, did this help? Can anyone confirm with numbers?

The cowl is a high pressure air at speed, so air goes INTO that gap, not out of it. So it won't let hot air out, though it might at idle, sitting at lights, that sort of thing.

I don't know if removing it messes up the aerodynamics of the car at all or not. You'd be eliminating some central downforce if you remove it, but whether that's 2 pounds or 200 pounds I have no real way to know. The hood's a big area though, and a quarter psi on that big of a surface adds up.

I wasn't impressed by any sound change, and in light of the above I put mine back on.

Be careful if you remove it not to screw up the clips that hold it in place!
