Default Catch can

I changed the lid this morning, and there is some oil pooling in the lid. ive read several threads about them on here, and it seems like they all turn into a needed/not needed debate. im looking to install one as I had one on my 2014 ZL1 and it worked. is there one particular brand over another that seems to work for everyone on here? thanks!!

From what i have been researching the Mighty mouse one seems to be very good. When i do all my mods that will be the can going on my car. Also how many miles did you have on your car? that oil pooling really isn't terrible

I learned a few lessons during the process of purchasing and installing a catch can. Definitely get a hold of Mighty Mouse for one of his cans as the product, instructions, and customer support is best I've come across.

Dang! Mileage was going to be my question and was hoping it was more than 250! I have 100 on mine and while I have catch cans on all other cars I have, the installation process on the Z06 looks to be more than a little crazy. Other concern of mine is if I will have issues with warranty; granted, I realize any mods have to be directly related to the warranty issue in order for warranty work to be denied, but there are always dealerships that make you go through all this crap before doing whats right.

I am getting XPEL clear bra installed on my entire car starting Monday, so my car will be down for a few weeks. If you get one installed, please keep us up to speed with which catch can you got and what the installation process was like.

I have a 16 z06 moded lower pulley, tank, afe cai, and tuned making 630/675. Pulled the lid at. 18,000 miles and very little oil. Thin film only. Cleaned it. So as for a can I don't know if it is as necessary as you hear. Also I have no oil in the intake none dry. Food for thought

I've got 15k on a Colorado Speed \ Elite can. I drain it every 3k miles or every day or two at the track, about 2 to 4 ounces. No issues other than a restrictor added to the system after purchase as an update a year ago or more. Still get some oil film but I will guess 80% less than with out.

Good to hear there are those that dont have much issue with oil build up on the inter cooler, but the other issue I am concerned about it coking (or buildup on the valves). Long story short is catching the oil is one thing, but there are also other contaminants that al get trapped and condensed into the oil in the can that otherwise would be sent to the intake. From what I understand, catch these other contaminants wasnt much of an issue on port injected engines as the detergents in the fuel would clean the back side of the valve; but in a direct injection engine this isnt the case so the crud (coking) builds up and over time causes all sorts of variability issues. Here is a video of what I am referring to. It involves Ford Ecoboost engines, but its direct injected & turbo so the net effect is the same:

Has anyone happened to check the back side of the valves on their car? If anyone has or does/can you let us know how it looked and whether you used a catch can or not?
