Obviously alignment issue
First time posting a photo...hope this works.
Picture shows cord showing on front tire of my wife's Z06. Both fronts are shot. Tires didn't last 5,000 miles. Car is driven by a 60 year old grandmother who has probably never exceeded 75 mph in it. Tire pressures maintained at 30 psi cold.
Obviously, the front alignment either came out of the factory wrong, or went bad fast after we bought it.
I HIGHLY recommend anyone who buys a new Z06 to get it aligned at a good shop as soon as you take delivery.
The rears look good with even wear and a good amount of tread left so I plan to replace just the fronts.

The factory alignment on these are fairly aggressive, especially compared to family cars and mini vans. If the owner only drives it like a "grandma" then the insides of the front tires will most definitely wear. Manufactures of high performance sports cars assume the owners will drive them more spiritedly than the typical grocery getter.
I always ask our customers when they buy a new car how it will be driven and we can make adjustments to the alignment to help with tire wear if they so choose.

that look like a rubbing issue more than alignment,or defective tire maybe?

The chorded inner shoulder could be excessive negative camber or toe out.
All of the new new cars and trucks I have bought from Chevrolet have needed alignment but there seems to be a reluctance on the part of dealerships to respond to customer complaints on this issue.

So if someone wants a Corvette as a daily driver on the freeway, and does not drive it "hard", they should expect to get less than 5,000 miles from the tires with the factory alignment?

maybe...you need to get it checked out. I had mine set to DSC's "street/occasional track" specs and noticed a huge difference in handling.
Factory settings weren't even within tolerances.

They're set up with a somewhat aggressive alignment from the factory - with the expectation it's going to be driven in a more spirited manner.
That looks to be excessive, and definitely not normal though. Probably aligned incorrectly from the factory or another shop if you've take it somewhere.
Surprised it would even track straight with that level of wear.

Thanks for the suggestions about using other than the factory alignment settings.
Can anyone provide settings that have worked for them with a daily driver?
I asked my local Chevy dealer about getting the alignment checked and the service manager told me that he expected the alignment to be fine and that I should only expect to get 3,000 miles out a set of tires on a Z06. According to him I was lucky to get 5,000 miles out of them.
I found a local tire shop that often installs run-flats and the alignment tech said he would work with me to get it fixed.

This a standard Z06 or one with the Z07 package?
Which tires are these? Super Sports? or Sport Cup 2s?
On a standard Z06 with Super Sports you should get a ton more miles. (They are rated and have a mileage warranty of 30,000 miles) My car has 9K on it and my tires look new. I don't do burnouts but have had tire spin. I also push my car through turns and my tire shoulders look fine.
Sport Cup 2s are at the very best a 10,000 mile tire and could be shorter depending on conditions and driving style.
Hope this helps. I have included a copy of the tire info straight from Michelin's website. Left is the SS and right is SC2. Note no warranty on the SC2.

Car is stock Z06, non Z07, Super Sports.

Melting Slicks
I have been running a track oriented alignment with camber at around -2.0 F and -1.6R since I bought the car. I now have 7500 miles on her. About 5500 miles were on a set of MPSS. I still have >50% of the tread left F &R with no excess wear on any part of the tyres.
Your alignment is off, badly, probably the toe I'd suspect.
Find a new dealer; have a new set of tyres installed under warranty; complain like hell if GM won't step up and admit the car came from the factory with a crappy alignment.
Good luck,
Bish

Front Tires gone at 7000 miles on my Z06!

Now ordered new fronts almost $900.00 plus another $150.00 to mount, balance, and align front end. Dealer did not have equipment to align rear tires!
Am pissed putting it mildly....car is never abused, tracked.....garage kept, carpeted floor, cleaned after every drive inside and out! So, this tire wear was not my doing.
Have before and after alignment chart printout...and it was definitely out of alignment....didn't think after paying $93,000.00 for a new Corvette that I should have them take it to service and tell them to check alignment before taking it home!! That is insane! Never had an issue with any other chev car or truck I have ever bought new or owned like this!
