Vipers and Z06's run within microseconds of one another on a road course. Z06's can be had for $74K (what I paid for a new 3LZ). Vipers are $120K when optioned a a 3LZ level and frankly you'll still be missing out on several Z06 only amenities. Now if the $46K delta doesn't bother you why not go test drive one versus a test-ride? I don't think a forum's collective opinion on a vehicle has swayed me to spend +60% more on it especially at these levels.

I love to see a Viper driving down the road because they look super cool. I hate driving them, especially with the gas pedal where the clutch pedal should be and the clutch pedal outside the drivers door.

I had a new Viper owner in my C7Z back in November. He was a C6Z owner prior. He said that he couldn't believe how nice the C7Z was compared to his Viper inside outside comfort and refinement. Nuff said.
They're both very cool cars but the Viper is not everything the C7Z is. Nor is the C7Z everything a Viper is, but unless you're sole purpose is to track the car, the Viper is not as friendly when taking a nice long cruise. At least thats what he said. The heat the noise and the ride quality were inferior according to him. I think the Viper with that insane wing looks the part more, as well as color choices and the name lol. But I couldn't live with one. Especially no auto option. Very limiting. Right or wrong that fact cannot be denied.

Thanks for all the replys fellas for me the car is super cool love it but I just took my a8 out and came to my senses "how could you get rid of such a beauty" what I asked my self and I found a lot of vipers in the 80's with some miles on it which I don't mind I think one day in the far future if I ever get tired of owning a vette (don't hold your breath on that) viper is next in line for sure

I'm on my 3rd Gen V Viper with the latest being an ACR-E. You'll basically always get misinfo from non-owners and def biased reports esp in this section of the Corvette forum.
Vipers are great cars if you appreciate them for what they are. They aren't anywhere near user friendly as vettes and were never meant to be. As stated by the Doc above, Vipers have superior fit and finish and interior is nothing short of awesome. The naturally aspirated delivered torque is intoxicating.
Dodge did screw the Viper by crappy marketing, lack of options (Auto trans being the biggest I believe), and heavily overpricing the Gen V (in the beginning). Now they fall in pricing where they should be (and should have been from the start), there are def deals out there.
If you ever get the opportunity to take a ride in an ACR, I'd def recommend doing so.

Dodge refused to upgrade the car to the modern era.
They stuck with the original formula until its market was saturated and sales dropped off accordingly.
Never a big seller, during its last years sales were only in the hundreds:
2013 = 591 cars
2014 = 760
2015 = 664
2016 = 625

The lack of an auto is why I didn't buy the Gen 5 to replace my Gen 2 GTS Viper.

I have driven a few Vipers, did not like them at all. Huge door sill, and yet the window is right next to your head. Cannot see the speedometer, what's up with that? And they're SO SLOW. A stock 13 ACR runs in the 13's, here (6,000 feet). I raced a friend's 2006, his has a Novi supercharger, dynoing (supposedly) at 680 SAE RWHP, and I walked him by a car and a half from 60 to 120 five times in a row. Mine dyno's at 650 SAE RWHP. Not impressed.
