Anybody have them? Anyone drive around with them all the time? Will they scratch up the car?

They don't really move around, and certainly don't scratch the car. Even at 150+ mph mine have remained in place.

i purchased mine through ZL1addons. the vette engineers didn't do a very good job of aligning the receiver with the pattern of the grille on my 2015 Z. the stem is against and applying pressure to the grille but has not caused any damage. i keep them on permanently and love them!

Cool. I like them. It just looks like the eye can swing up and down. Down you have one in the back?

I also have ZL1Addons front and back. They are top quality and do not move. Since I track the car, the tow hooks stay in all the time. They generate some interesting questions. I consider them insurance on the track and street - if I have them, I won't need them, and if I didn't, I probably would.

Awesome. Cool. I promise-last question. So the red circle/loop, with the bolt going thru it, does not swing up and down, front and back of the car? I am talking about the set from ZL1 Addons.

Are they interchangable? IF I want to have one in the trunk for insurance can it screw in to front or back?

Not interchangeable, one longer than the other

I have them, but only leave the front one in all the time. It doesn't move at all so no problems there. The rear sticks out too far to suit me so I remove it until tracking again and reinstall then. I hate them. I only have them because they are in the rules of the series that I compete in. Optima's Search for the Ultimate Street Car. Come join us at an event. It's a lot of fun. They usually sell out quickly so plan as soon as you can if you wish to enter.

I purchased the stock one and put it in the tray that sits over the battery. I only purchased one because I am too OCD to have a blank spot where something is supposed to go...

As far as leaving them in and driving around town, I have not seen any corvettes doing this around here but I have seen many "ricers" with their tow hooks on them full time. Must be a fashion statement or something.

Tow hook, as in tow back to pit or back onto lane, is not the same function as using it to be pulled up onto a tow truck bed. Many wreckers have their winch centered and will not use a tow hook that is offset as they won't sit in the car and steer it while it is being pulled onto a wrecker and their insurance generally prohibits you from doing it. Now if the car is trashed and you don't mind them dragging it on there then it's not a big deal.

If you are buying them for the sole purchase of using them with a regular tow truck, you may (I say MAY because you might get lucky) be in for disappointment when they don't use it.

they are designed to stay in place whether you rotate them to point up, flat or down.

They don't flop around even after a lot of use. I have them on the car when I am on track and I use the front hook to pull the car up on the trailer with the winch. Yes, the hook isn't centered but all it takes is to have the window open and the engine running so you can reach in and turn the steering wheel to get the car where you want it.

The front hook doesn't look all that great (paint chipped, nicked, scratched) after being used a fair number of times to get the car on and off the trailer so I don't keep them on the car when driving around town.

If you get them make sure you know what you do with the rear fascia cut out cover. They are small and easily lost. When that happens you have a permanent hole in the rear fascia.

If it's worth anything:

I leave the black, threaded stems on the car at all times, and just remove the actual painted loop part. That makes the track prep very easy: just thread the two loops back into place onto their respective stems. It keeps me from having to futz around, looking for the threaded holes in the chassis at either end of the car.

Like that whole-house generator and automatic transfer switch I dropped about $6K on a couple years ago. Used to have power outages numerous times a year. Since it was install, pretty much nothing. My neighbors should thank me.
