I have a 2017 A8 and there is an option on the screen display to keep the flaps open at all times. It only takes a couple of seconds and you can switch back in an instant.

What's it called? If you mean Track mode, it doesn't do what you think it does.
To keep baffles open all the time regardless if auto or manual you need to pull fuse 42 and you will solve closing. You won't be able to change until fuse is put back. The confusion is owners think they can switch to track exhaust from control screen but baffles still close at certain rpm points on both manual and auto...worse however with auto vehicles. Fuse box passenger side Under hood in front of dry sump...and there's a storage spot for spare fuses where you can keep it for safe keeping when you want to put it back. There are a lot of threads on this topic on forum.

Reason: Spelling
Driving on the street/highway I use Eco Mode a lot. The exhaust is set in Track mode. Even at low rpms I can tell when the exhaust closes for 4 cylinder mode and opens again when the system decides to switch back to 8 cylinder mode. If there is a difference between below 1400 rpms and above 1300 rpms in V8 mode I can't tell it. The exhaust sounds just as loud. But, maybe that is because I have spent a couple thousand miles on the track running the engine at near wide open or wide open throttle.
