Default Track temps

Just did a track day in an A8 with 20 minute sessions. Ambient temps 60 to 80. Highest motor temps, 280 oil 245 coolant. Intermediate driver rating. No issues.

I'm guessing 320 oil pulls power or goes into limp mode. Looks like it will be close on a warm day.

Thanks for sharing. What year car? Any cooling mods?

Mine is a 2017 M7 with no cooling mods. 90 ambient, 30 min. sessions at an intermediate-advanced pace resulted in:
engine coolant: 217
engine oil: 261
trans oil: 248

The car is a stock 2016. Best recollection transmission was 210 to 230. Looks like your in good shape for temp.

Are you paddle shifting or in D?

Are you short shifting?

Running in D, ZO 7 option with Sport Cups.

Running in D is going to drive your temps up too high because the car will constantly be running at max rpm's... use M and drive with the paddles.

There is a thread on here where Tadge very specifically talks about this.

Use the paddles and short shift (500-600 rpm) and you'll avoid most of the over heat issues.

Brake pads have a good gray burnish about half way up. Still seem good. Had a little to start with.
