Default How many people are having paint issues?

I cant be the only one having so many problems with the paint.

Drivers side fender didn't get fully covered I have no idea how it made it past qc.

And after about 700 the paint on the front bumper has paint peeling I don't know if it was a bubble or the front fender rubbed against the paint and caused it to start peeling.

I'm just super disappointed that an 85k car has so many paint issues.

Mine has silver overspray between the color and clear coats. Paint sucks on Corvettes, well known. It might be better now (new paint setup) but the old Bowling Green might as well have been putting it on with a roller some days.

So, it sucks, but it's "normal". If you have serious issues your dealer should refer you to a body shop to take a look at it and then deal with it under warranty.

As trivia, that's something different here in the US as compared to the Midwest of Canada where I grew up - back in the 80s, at least, all the big dealerships had their own bodyshops.

This is my third Corvette and they have all had crappy paint. My 2017 silver has black specs under the clearcoat which look like rock chips but are on the roof and hatch cover. I guess it is just a "corvette thing"!
My F-350 has much better paint!

I'll upload some tonight.

They are going to fix it just annoying I have to have two body panels on a brand new car repainted.

I have paint peeling on top of passenger side rear fender. Plan to take it to dealer. Hope they will repair it.

GM is well known for their crappy factory paint finishes since the 70's. I purchased a new 1984 Camaro Z/28 HO during the evening hours and I should have known better. The next day I noticed it was **** coated and 75% of the car had to be repainted. You could see the black primer underneath the Beige. My Son picked up a 2016 Black GMC Sierra Denali and the orange peel is ridiculous. I told him the truck looked like it was sprayed with latex and a cheap Wagner sprayer. Hopefully the new paint facility at Bowling Green will solve the paint issues on these beautiful cars.

My '17 has this same issue. The panels shouldn't be rubbing. I bet the paint would be fine if they weren't.

On the plant tour you will see how paint imperfections are corrected and then you understand why these defects are leaving the factory. Quality control is questionable and not every one is perfect.

Just picked up my 2017 Z06 from the museum. Car was perfect, 1,200 miles later and same issue. Front bumper rubbing so now the paint is starting to peel off. Definitely disapointed but what can I do. Time to bring her into the dealership and find out how good the body shop is before they touch her.

Join the club. Many paint issues. Take it to your dealer and hear them say we will take off the panel and have it repainted by Joe Blow here in our body shop. It wont match the rest of your car but tough ****. Mary Bara CEO 300 Renaissance Center. Detroit Mi. 48243 Phone #313 556 5000 GM Corporate Customer Service 313 567 3126.

Default Better business bureau

file the bbb it’s free and if the defects aren’t fixed properly you can go lemon law. File on their site. It’s easy. I just did it. For the front and rear clip alignment and all kinds of paint issues.

Default BBB response 5/17/2018

This is the response I received. Everyone should demand their cars be fixed properly. We shouldn’t have issues, I have 5000 mi. On my 2016 z-06. And the paint and panel alignment is a mess.

If everyone looked over their entire car meticulously, probably 95%. You can go look at the 19s on lots and still see issues. Fender vent inserts seem to be better, that’s about it. The front and rear seams resting on top of each other are still present. Most of these c7s have nearly zero gap, so when you push the car hard enough it flexes and chips the paint. Overspray or lack of is common on the doors, trunk, hood and on the bottom of the car. Albeit not nearly as bad as the other issues. GM put out a TSB already, Take care of your best customers like most other manufacturers do or lose a lot of us.

It has nothing to do with pushing your car, mine happened at less than 500 miles and I never went over 3k or 4K rpms, whatever the break in procedure was.

Front bumper didn't chip off either from panels rubbing, it peeled off. The issue is adhesion.

Well anyway, I finally got my car taken care of, just picked it up Friday and I'm mostly happy. I need to wash the car so everything is clean, it's been non stop raining here for several days

What year is your car? Was it painted in the new shop?
