Good morning everyone. I hope everyone has a blessed Lord's day today. I just got my new 2017 zo6 and am in the process of breaking it in. I am currently at 430 miles on the odometer. My concern is that I am not liking what I hear on the exhaust. During medium acceleration up to 3500 rpm's I love the exhaust note. It is a tight roar that is intoxicating. But under hard acceleration up to 3500 rpm's, the sound is much louder but the note is somewhat loose and unrefined. My main question is twofold. In all of your opinions, is this the way the car sounds under hard acceleration, and if I was wanting to change the exhaust, what would all of you recommend as far as after market exhausts to achieve the sound I am looking for. That tight refined roar. One of my concerns is that there is something wrong with the exhaust. if the exhaust is supposed to sound this way it will make me feel much better. Have a blessed day everyone and any info would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks Flashburn. I think im really looking for a reason to install a corsa system. ill wait till I get to 500 miles and do a WOT and see how I like it then. Thanks again
[QUOTE=Lynch Z06;1594922021]Really?!?! that's a bit disrespectful.....
Agree, lighten up a bit jeez.
On the OP's question. I don't think personally is sounds loose what so ever, but that's my opinion. Get the 500 miles and let her rip!
Your cure maybe an x-pipe change. You tube is a great resource.
hard to tell what your describing in terms of the way the exhaust sounds. To me it didn't sound muscle car or deep enough, so I went with the B&B Fusion system with headers, huge difference, definitely louder but a much deeper sound even under light throtle

You're probably noticing the change in sound when the valves in the mufflers open under hard acceleration. I kind of prefer the sound when they are closed too.
I came from a C6z to my C7z. I know what you are talking about. The first time I went wot, I thought something sounded wrong with the motor. The exhaust note was loud and nasty; it almost sounded like something was coming loose. Welcome to 650 hp.
Jlambo01, there's been a lot of information on keeping the valves open all the time (the sound you don't like), but I haven't run across anything yet on keeping them closed.
I wonder if keeping the valves closed would really cost much in power, or if GM was more concerned about having them open to meet consumer expectations of "how a Corvette should sound"? If having them closed meant that the car only produced 630 hp rather than 650, I'd find that adequate for much of the driving I do, and I wouldn't need to worry about the car suddenly bleating like a goat in heat.
Full manual control would be nice though for those times when I really wanted the extra power.
I used to have a friend who worked for Walker, and they would spend a lot of time working with auto manufacturers to produce an OEM exhaust sound that the car company thought the market segment for that particular car would like.
I preferred the sound on my C5 with the ZO6 factory titanium exhaust. It sounded much more refined. If I want loud and obnoxious, I've got my Harleys for that.

thanks a lot 383 vette for responding. it makes me feel much better knowing that that is the way it sounds under hard acceleration. I was starting to think something was wrong with the exhaust. This is really a great forum.
Get some main cat delete pipes and the Corsa X which deletes the secondary cats.....this will give it a pretty cool sound with mufflers open and still quite with mufflers closed.
I just installed the Akrapovic Evo, and while a bit pricey, the sound is brilliant...perfect actually.
Glad to hear that you are happy with your purchase. While the Akra systems are a pretty penny you absolutely get what you pay for and thise system is widely considered one of the world's best for the C7 Z06.
I am fortunate enough to have a couple more incoming into the U.S. this week despite the fact that they are no longer available here
