I live in Vegas and it's been on the warm side lately, around 116F today. I was curious what the coolant or oil temp must be reached to trigger the reduced engine power?
Both have been around 220-230F without getting into any boost on my 2017 Z06 M7 and I am curious how much buffer I have to set my mind at ease. Perhaps I've been reading too many of these track threads but it is warm here... Thanks.
262 is the over heat temp for coolant and the oil temp has to exceed 300 to get an over temp from it. If you aren't pushing the car hard on the track you don't have a worry. Temps go up when you are producing more power by running with the throttle wide open with elevated rpms. The engine doesn't produce 650 HP if run at part throttle or if it is at wide open throttle if not running at 6400 rpm. It takes less than 30 HP to drive the car on a level highway at a continuous 70 mph with the air on.
