Default RESULTS IN!! - 1/4 Mile Track Advice - Stock 2017 - Novice

I have a 2017 Z06 and plan on going to the 1/4 mile track this weekend for the first time. Looking for advice on launching with 100% stock car and stock tires, no DR's. I did a search but not much on stock tires.
-------------------------------------
I wanted to see what real world results would be for a 2017 Z06 A8 - 100% stock, with a full tank of gas, stock tires, regular tire pressure and extreme weather temps. Back to back to back runs and then back into the staging lines, no heat issues.

RESULTS:
Temp: Just under 100* - HOT Day - DA unknown
Elevation: 1,237 near mountain base
Oil & Water Temps: 210-220 (gauges)
Traction control off, in Tour mode
Best Run: 11:54 , 122.79 mph (twice)

One bad reaction time is due to me passing the staging lights and then I'm in reverse, when the guy lights the tree - still beat the HellCat A8 times

Need "driver mod" but not bad for the circumstances and my first time in a Z. I just need more practice. . Attached are some slips.

Stock tire traction will all depend on track prep and track temp. Go at night if you can. Make your pass right after they spray the track. If you are comfortable in doing a burnout, lightly hold the brake and hit the gas to warm/clean the tires. Stage the car. Put it in Tour with TC off and just floor it on the last yellow light. If the track prep is bad it will just spin and you'll have to let off the throttle and ease back into it. If prep is great it will hook and go. Either way, have a great time and report back !

First time?
If you can find a big open parking lot, it might be good to practice burnouts and holeshots there first.

Burnout: Traction control needs to be turned off by pushing the console button once.

Holeshot (launching off the line): Turn traction control back on. The "launch control" feature can be used in any of the normal driving modes. Left foot firmly on the brake. Right foot to the floor, the engine revs will only go to around 2300 rpm and hold there (on the A8). Light turns green, release left foot from brake.

While there may be better ways, this way is pretty foolproof for one who doesn't have much experience, and can yield good times.

Do you have to go into the track mode, competitive driving mode menu, for launch control... or just put it foot on brake and gas and it will do it automatically? I thought you had to go into menus for launch control...

You can footbrake in any mode but it's not Launch Control.

I haven't been able to tell the difference, in or out of track mode. That's not to say that there is no difference, just that I haven't noticed one yet. I'll gladly defer to someone who has timed the runs in the various modes, and found a major advantage in one of the "track" modes.

Going only from what I've read, most drag racers are finding improved traction by using one of the softer suspension settings (better weight transfer off the line).

I'd only add, plan on taking the first pass at roughly 75% and familiarize yourself with the prep of the specific strip your on. Work your way up to the pass in which you go all out to get your best time. I'd try the first couple passes with TC on, then experiment with it off. The 1320 is all about traction. If you get comfortable with how the car is going to react on the pavement first, then maximize your approach via setup experimentation, you'll likely break into the 10s with an A8.

The A8 is simple to launch at the track. Run touring mode, TC off, heat up the tires until they smoke for a few seconds and then pull up to the line. Leave the car in drive and just go on the last yellow. I would try WOT off the light and see if it hooks. The M7 is a different animal.

Killer. That Dragway would be around 3700ft DA at that temp based on AirDensityOnline. That is a horsepower killer and you still ran well ! Congrats !. Think about how fast it would be at -1000ft and drag radials.
