Given you have a 2016, you likely have the A8 unless you bought it used and someone installed the aux radiator themselves.
It is an A8 and I did buy it new.
I know it is an aux cooling system, I just don't know what it cools.
I am wondering if it is a late "Ad-On" due to the trans / tracking Heat Soak issues?

No...the auxiliary heat exchanger for the A8 was designed and added prior to the production of the 2015 Z06. All A8 Z06 cars have the extra heat exchanger in the front.

That is one of the two transmission coolers for the A8 and has been included since the A8 was introduced in the Z06. The rear mounted cooler is not sufficient for the transmission. When the overheating issues became better known GM started mounting an auxiliary engine cooling radiator in this position for M7 cars.

So its a secondary trans cooler. That's what I thought.
Thanks.
