Well , was doing a little bit of " spirited " driving yesterday shifted from 3 rd to 4th , the Car was hauling a## like an absolute beast .
Before i know it , i bounced off the rev limiter in 4th .
Question ,would bouncing off the limiter cause any future or short term issues ?
The Car just cut power until it was back below red line .
I drove " normal " afterwards for about 45 mins with no ill effect .
For the record , i use Meth injection and 1 can of Torco to the gas tank so there was no detonation , just bounced off the Rev limiter .

You'll be OK. About the only way to really overrev one of these would be to shift down to a too-low gear, I imagine. You generally won't hurt it with the throttle.
You'll be fine, it seems that when shifting from third to forth, the rev limiter can really sneak up on you when getting after it..
Thanks for the replies , I cant believe how quick the car climbed the revs to that speed in that short of a distance . The Pro charger certainly is a different animal in the upper rev band .
You can bump it all you want.. Hell you can start in first and floor it and hold it there.. It's a rev limiter and it's doing exactly as designed with no ill effects to the car.
It can cause belt breakage on a centrifugal blower car (happened to me a couple of times, the tuner advised me to stay off the limiter), but sounds like you came out OK.
I was doing 0-60 awhile ago (M7), and it cuts fuel at redline, didn't bounce off the limiter the car just kinda dies and rev goes all the way down. Was surprised to see this thread, maybe only 1st gear it does that? what am I missing here. (glad to see this thread I thought all gears will cut off fuel at redline, much much more fun to bounce off limiter!)
So no problem bouncing off limiter huh, make sure car is warmed up, good and plenty of oil in the engine......is there like a time limit like 3,4 seconds is ok or ?

Q: What do you think the car is doing when utilizing the no-lift shift feature?
A: Bouncing off the rev limiter.
Good point , I think I was more surprised in the short amount of time that I hit the limiter in 4th , I never dreamed that I would need to shift gear ( hitting the speed I did ) in that short of a distance . I was concentrating on the road ahead rather than the gauges .

exactly.
Another member here was at or near the top of 3rd and meant to powershift 4th and instead mistakenly power shifted second. That is not good.
At the redline does it bounce off it first, then if you are still at the redline then car will cut off power? I have never experienced rev limiter bouncing, it just cut off power right away, but it was mostly 1st gear I guess 1st gear was too fast, gotta try 3rd gear rev limiter bouncing.
So as long as car is warmed up both of those cases won't harm the engine right

shouldnt hurt the car. My m7 In first only goes to 6k or 6100 rpm on the dash tach, however the pdr shows 6500 rpm. Not sure which is correct . The lt4’s seem to run best shifting around 5500 to 5800 rpm at most per the dash tach.
