2017 Z06 dyno BMS filter and Mamo ported TB
It was 120F outside today and I've been noticing some knocking on the crap gas we have in Vegas so I went in for a dyno.
Car:
2017 z06 m7
Stock tune
BMS filter
Tony Mamo ported TB
Max Torque 596
Max HP 575
Min AFR 11.6
KR peaked about 9 during the WOT pull but we did see some around 12-20 on some slow pulls done prior to the WOT and the ECU was even attempting to go negative with the timing. I believe this also explains the HP line jerking around the place. This concerns me quite a bit and I might have to get a tune. Has anyone with a similar experience tried a lower temp thermostat around 160-175?
Hopefully this helps anyone thinking about the BMS drop in filer or a ported TB.
Any comments are always appreciated.

I read this twice... so your car HAS the two mods... or you are planning the two mods.?
Interested in the results as these seem to be the two most popular mods to retain factory tune and get some improved throttle response and HP.

Tuned mine, actually took some power out on purpose to make the tune a little safer, no regrets whatsoever.

120F !!!! Great power for all the negatives working against you. Your min AFR was 11.1 if you were on pure gasoline. Closer to 10.6 if E10. A lower stat and a can of Boostane would make a huge difference in those conditions.

I have the two mods installed and 91 shell fuel. When I have some time I would like to try some torco or boostane and possibly also a slightly cooler thermostat. I wish I could find one that is around 170-175 that is reliable. The only one I've seen good reports on is the 160F and a bit concerned that is too low without a tune. I'm wanting to hold off the tune for a bit if I can avoid it due to the likely warranty issues.
Like others have reported I did notice a much improved throttle response on my M7 with the Mamo ported TB. The BMS filter also seemed to cause the traction control to come on more and I did notice slightly more boost. I'm very pleased with both of these mods.

Mine says if 93 is unavailable, which it isn't in my area, 91 may be used with reduced performance. I did find a station with 100 unleaded so I will mix 4 or 5 gallons of it with 12 gallons of 91 and repeat the dyno when I can.
While I do not have a dyno before these mods, I was really just posting the dyno to help anyone out considering the BMS or a ported TB and to see the AF is safe and it does seem to add some power.

yup I understand. But I'm just saying that's most likely where your knocking is coming from that you are experiencing. You want at least 93 if you are hammering on the gas, like a dyno. That 91 could even be a bad batch, so you could even be getting less. I only have 91 here as well, but I add Torco to get me to 94 to be safe.

Agreed and appreciate your experience. To be honest I'm sure the KR has been there but I've never heard any knock or pings before the temp outside starting getting 110+. In any event, seeing it on the hp tuners was enough to convince me I was really hearing something and I need to do something with the fuel situation.

The Borla X pipe gained 18whp and 21whp from 2 separate people on here. The BMS is good for around 30 whp, and the PTB may give you 5-8 whp in low and mid range. But its primarily for the stutter.
I run 93 octane 99% of the time. I did use 100 octane a couple times and it felt like it added another 50~ish whp.
Love the car now and it sounds so bad when you get on it with the Borla.

I have a 17' Z and have Borla X pipe, TM PTB, and BMS Filter. Car has a pretty significant boost in power and the stutter is gone due to the PTB.

The Borla X pipe sounds awesome as you know and frees it up a bit and drops around 14 lbs I think.
The PTB is probably the largest feeling difference of the 3. It got rid of that stutter when you give light to medium/light throttle and the car just hesitates. It got rid of 90% of it.
You will be fine, there are tons of others with these 3 mods as well.

Chart looks good, a can of octane booster would really help I think.. 91 octane sucks. I normally use NOS Race w/ MMT but lately found Lucas w/ MMT works about the same. And of course Torco is the gold standard.
