NEW 2017 for sale but with 600 miles
#22
The word "demo" scares me a lot. When I hear the word "demo", all I can picture is these crazy test drives where they rev the snot out of the car to make potential customers feel its power. They can call it "owner's demo" but the use of that car is not limited to the owner only.
Yeah they're selling the car as new but for me, it's really a used car. It has 600 miles. I don't care if the car hasn't been titled or the factory warranty starting when you buy it. It's still a used car. And I think you're paying a new car price ($103k) for it. You can get a "brand new" car with no miles on it for that price. If memory serves me right, I remember seeing a $90k Z06 being offered for $80k here by a forum sponsor dealer?
Like others have said, they would have to come down a lot more than that for me to even remotely consider it.

Yea I told them it feels like they're selling a used car that is "new" based on a technicality. Service has been performed and so warranty has started. Who knows what condition the tires are in and it's not worth my $ to fly out there to see a car that has been used like that. I told them if they're willing to come down on price closer to a used 2017 price then I'll buy it today.

You can order one brand new for less than they are offering if the $110K is the sticker. MacMulkin takes 11% off list on orders. That'd be $98K.
If it's been titled, it's a used car and you need to get 20% off minimum or I'd go elsewhere.

The first 500 miles are protected electronically but the other 100 are not. The dealer is out of line price wise. I just bought a leftover 2017 over $110k list and got a deal and the car only had 47 miles on it. I agree with another post of 92k is a go! At least these cars are being broken in without the running to red line from every stop light demo ride wise.

One can get an idea of how hard it's be driven, by looking at the total number of engine revolutions in the Driver Information Display, and comparing that with the number of hours of operation also logged there. Hard driving will register lots more revolutions, than just puttering around at 1500 to 2000 rpm.
For example, if it shows 4000 revolutions per minute of operating time overall, it's probably been driven very very hard.

When you buy a demonstration car, it means that potential customers have been able to wipe out the car or that the dealer used it for marketing purposes at shows, moved with. But in any case, such a car can not be sold as new, it is the law in France and if it is not in your home, in the USA, it astonishes me a lot ! A demonstration car is between -15% and -20% in France. Waaranty must begin since the deal day with 600 miles as a new car. It's your turn.

decide on the price you want to pay....... go into the dealer ready to buy...... make THEM the offer, make THEM say no..... be ready to walk out if they do..... I'll bet they take your (reasonable) offer or at least make a counter offer which you can consider or just leave

I purchased a new 2017 Z06/Z07 listed for 106055, for 86k, it had 2.7 miles on it, looked for months all over, was planning waiting for a ZR1, but the deal was too good to turn down, I'll sell it when the ZR1 shows up

Yah...it is likely a great car, but it is a slightly used car. I'd advise them that you'll buy at 92k and leave your contact info. They are going to want to move the 17s much more aggressively as the year winds down.

I rather just buy a regular used car than a demo. The car was driven to a car show? Likely not by the owner. Demos being treated well are the exception not the rule.

I would start at $90k and stop at $93k. The car is fine if it's clean and doesn't show signs of neglect. Most dealers have them parked in their garage and don't drive except on special occasions, they're a pain to drive everyday for most of those guys.

$90k would be a good deal for them and not too bad for you. All the chatter about the miles etc. is humous, I wouldn't give it a 2nd thought if it looks good, has a full warranty and most of all the price is right. New 16's were being discounted 20% at one point. I agree on checking with forum dealers and pricing a new one, you may be surprised. Good luck finding what you want.

Same situation over here on the West coast, a dealer has something similar with 400+ miles and after I made the same arguments he lowered the price from $103K to $102K! LMAO, yeah right! Oh wait it gets better, the owner of the lot/guy driving it is a "professional race car driver," so the car has been babied and driven correctly. :: chuckle ::
