Default Bringing Back Competition Gray

I had Comp Gray wheels on my 02 EB Z06 and my 06 LB Z06.

This time around I grabbed a 17 Black Z06 with Matte Black wheel with the red stripe. It's a really nice combination but I couldn't help but wonder what Comp Gray would like on the C7 Z06.

I purchased a set of OE Grand Sport wheels from a forum member a few months ago. A friend of mine owns a auto body shop. I asked him to shoot them in Comp Gray.

Pretty happy with the results.

Sorry for the typo in the title

Happy Labor Day Weekend friends!

-Dave

Those look awesome! The cup/gs wheel is so much easier to clean than the Z wheel.

I like the look. I had Comp Grays on my Cyber Gray C6 GS, and ordered Spectra Grays on my new Blade Silver 2018 ZO6, both look good but the Spectras are a couple shades darker than the Comps, and have the machined rim. I'm not a huge fan of the Black wheels, and it seems like EVERYBODY has them, I just wanted something a bit different on both cars, and yours is different as well. Good choice.

Very nice OP. Variety is the spice as they say.

when we get too used to something it becomes mundane.

it will be interesting to see if Chrome makes a comeback down the road or is it on its last legs? With so many choices out there and EVERYONE doing black nice to see a comp gray pop back into the mix!

Love Comp Grays. They were the perfect alternative for those who didn't want to go chrome or black. Don't know why they went away. Spectra Grays work but IMO they just don't have the same look.

Yes - the Comp Grays look great on my Laguna Blue as well!!!

I really like the wide open Cup wheels - I have a set of them with the machine face and gray inside the spokes, and they really show off the carbon ceramic rotors and calipers on our Z07's!!

I ordered my C7 Z06 with the OE Spectra Gray wheels, but I also have a set of Comp Gray C6 ZR1 wheels. The Spectra Grays are a beautiful wheel - a little darker gray than the Comp Grays, and they have a machined strip around the outer edge of the rim:

Below is a C6 ZR1 Comp Gray on the left, and a Spectra Gray on the right - you can see the Comp Gray is a little lighter than the C7 Spectra gray:

Below shows the C6 ZR1 Comp Gray on the car, C7 Spectra Gray on the left, and the machine face Cup with gray inside the spokes on the right:

And below is the Spectra Gray on the car:

Comp gray should always be a choice.

^^^^I agree. to me the Spectre gray looks same as black unless in superior lighting or next to a black wheel in normal light. Comp gray always looks somewhat gray.

Great job on the color and wheel design. I really like the GS OEM choice.

I could never quite get why they dropped Comp Gray in favor of black, except for maybe the fact that the black is easier to get consistent and the color is of course cheaper. The original Comp G was pretty expensive when I bought a pint at a finishing shop. They did have some color consistency problems with that color, especially getting the plastic caps etc to match.
Anyway, those look spectacular and should have always been a choice on C7 IMO.
