Default Quick Simple Tire Question

I am looking for track only tires. Was thinking there are lot of cup tires for sale as takes offs. I have a stock 16 Z non Z07.

Can I assume if I buy Z07 wheels and cup tires they will work on the base Z?

Thanks in advance

Greg

Yes - all the Z06's and GS wheels are essentially the same size.

The GS Cup Wheels have a very slightly different backspacing than the Z06 wheels, but they fit on the Z06, and Z06 wheels fit on the GS.

I have a set of Cup Wheels off a GS on my Z06 right now.

The Cup 2s are a great track choice of tire. Its nice to be able to drive your car to and from the track. They wear well too as I get about 12 track days out of a set. We did a comparison day to day with Pilot Super sprts that are standard on your car and the Cup 2's. On a 3 mile track the cups (well used) were good for a solid 2 seconds over the MPSS.

For a quality inexpensive light track wheel check out the GM Speedlines. Used 800 to 1,200 and new around 1,500 to 1,700. With all the cracking and bending issues with our stock wheels I rather use them on the track. But I have never heard of a on track failure.

Perfect! Exactly what I was looking for. You and I exchanged PMs around the Contis so I went looking for alternatives and found a set of cup tires and wheels. Can't wait for spring and track time! It no fun for me an experienced driver but still conservative to be out on a tire like the Contis on the track, they are a hand full. There is just too much going on at the track to not have confidence in your tires and be worried if they are going to break loose.

Now I have the cups to change out to drive an hour to either Mid Ohio or Pittsburgh and the contis for daily driving carrying a tire repair kit.
