I want to clean the Halltech Filter on my C7 Z06 that has 15k miles, not exactly sure how many miles on the filter as I bought the car with it installed but figure no harm in cleaning it. I need to confirm what filter the car has but what is the best way of cleaning it? I am hoping it's the oiled filter as I have a K&N cleaner kit. I am told I need some special tool to get the filter out? Is that true?
There is a small little tool Halltech makes it looks like a small triangle.
He sends out with the units. You reach it in beside the filter base and turn the clamp to loosen it and pull it out. I like to have clean one ready and put it back in. 15,000 miles it shouldn't be too dirty I did mine at close to the same miles and it could have went another 10k.

Those filters don't need to be cleaned for at least 50K-100K miles. This is per Halltech and K&N. Sounds like a lot but they should know......less work for me. https://www.knfilters.com/cleaning.htm
