As this is a useless/trolling post I'll add a pet peeve to the discussion. I drives me crazy when people discuss how good the Corvette is but then add the qualifier, "for the money".
What the hell does the cost of the car have to do with the discussion. Sometimes I wish GM would double the MSRP of the Corvette so people would stop using that senseless qualifier!!!!!! Using that qualifier implies you're willing to give something up for the relatively low price you pay to get one.
The qualifier should be turned around. A meaningful qualifier should be "the Mercedes GT/Porsche GT3/McLaren 675LT/Ferrari 488GTB/etc are not much of a car FOR THE MONEY".

Then look typed them in and you tube showed them stock to stock with the Z06 pulling away. I just mentioned Lotta money for slower and their panties got in big wad real quick (not the Op either)How dare I!

I see what you did here. Removed all of those super fast Merc's from the list.
The smell of troll was so stank when I read the first post I nearly barffffffed up my dinner!!
I thought I read someone else comment that a E63 Mercedes would be quicker than a C7Z On a road course? In an E63 it would take a German Touring Car Champion to get around a well driven C7Z.
stupid thread

LOL. Some people have too much time on their hands. I'll let the numbers speak for themselves. If you want to go fast in a straight line buy a MOPAR.
JayLord, I see you're a relatively new forum member with hardly any posts but I have a serious question for you: Does posting stuff like this give you enjoyment? I just don't get it. I seriously think you'd enjoy life more on productive activities.

What a shame, a 4-door E63 start pulling back z06 on top end. This gen Z06 is a failure. Even the base Z06 makes too much downforce. Hope, the C8 or the mid engine vette won't have the same "parachute" in the trunk.

amg e63 From $101,700
McLaren 570s from $188,600
my 2016 Z 2lz was $80,000
apples to oranges.simple.Z06 is most bang for the buck supercar in the world.

Haha, no doubt this car is a failure. The old zr1 is faster. This gen makes too much of useless downforce. Even the base model. It is much slower than it should be. If people want a track car there is a Z07 option, but why I should suffer when I buy the base one and not for the tracks?
Bad bad aerodynamics is the Z's business card now.
All the sportscars will left it behind. So I hope they will remove this stupid parachute next time... Now get lost)

The price does not make the car quicker. The Z has around 650 hp Mclaren has around 570.
Why there is such a huge difference in the result. Manual? Well Mclareb started pulling away even before the Z changed the gear.
If you want to play with the big boys there must not be any excuses.
#49
Could be driver error or a car that is not reaching its full potential. My Z will run away from these vehicles in the 1/4 and big end, no doubt.
#50
It's not a bad thing. I had to laugh when the OP said the Z06 makes too much downforce like its a bad thing. The C7Z is still world-class fast on any track. What a horrible trolling effort.

It's real hard to take off some of the aero and add a taller tire in the back if your looking for great 1/4xs from the zo6.... Quit acting like an ignorant turd, this car wasn't designed for straight line performance, but it's incredible at it with some minor tweaks. Want really fast top speeds change a gear, take off the aero-pretty simple.

I see the point on both sides, to each his own, but if I got walked by a sedan regardless of HP I'd be pissed.... and then wonder why the hell did I not by that sedan in the first place so I could fit the whole family in it..

I love the new E63amg S version. I also understand that the Z06 has become the holy grail car for all others to compare to which pretty much explains why we get these more than occasional threads asking Z06 owners what they think about car X.
Gotta say though, this falls into the 1 trick pony car again for me, just like the Teslas. Great cars in a straight line but the selling prices at +$135K for the Tesla Model S100d and the $135K as tested S version from the Lightning Lap for the old Merc leaves me feeling pretty good about my $74K 2016 Z06 3LZ. At that point the $61K delta leaves me enough room from a new ZL1 to break out my inner hooligan.
The other thing I'd add for the merc' as already stated is the 11 second slower VIR LL time, which means the Z06 is lapping you every 15th lap....which would suck for merc owners if that's what they bought the car for, but hey, I'm not the one who compared it to a Z06.
I also challenge why the merc' can't seem to win it's own class, finishing 10th behind 3 Audis, 2 Porsches, another GM product the CTS-V, hell, even the CLS rated higher.
In the end there are several AWD, straightline cars that are faster than a poorly driven Corvette (Teslas, Audis, Merc's, etc.) I'm happy for the merc owners that their 4 door is quick. Sad for them that they spent $135K and now feel compelled to compare themselves to a $74K Corvette to feel vindicated. I can appreciate both cars, but I can't understand spending $135K to go fast in a straight line if that was the intent of this post.
Finally, not sure where the extra 9 horsepower came from the 659hp Z06, but can't wait to see how the new ZR1 performs that should be closer to that $135K MSRP for those inclined to spend such lofty sums to go fast.

I don't think the wife will appreciate doing triple digits with the kids in the back seat.

Amusing that the clown who started this thread has gotten so much traction from his apples to oranges post. I myself have contributed as it's just too much fun to pass up.
I find his arguing of both sides of the argument truly funny. On one hand he says the C7Z should not be judged by how fast it goes around a road course as 99.99999% of owners will never take it to the track.
He then argues how the Merc is the better car as it will go 300 mph in a straight line with a car load of people.
I'd be willing to wager more people track their C7 than Merc owners will go 300 MPH on a public roadway with the kiddies in the back seat. My observation is the typical Merc driver is similar to the C7 driver. Namely, a blue haired senior doing 54 MPH in the fast lane.
Does the OP want to talk capability or usage or both as long as it fits his trolling narrative?
Oh well....

Threads like this are stupid because they don't take into account multiple car ownership, rather assume you have to pick one car for everything and live with each one's limitations when that's not the case for many people.

Bad bad aerodynamics is the Z's business card now.
All the sportscars will left it behind. So I hope they will remove this stupid parachute next time... Now get lost)

If you bought one as a drag strip car, oh well, I guess your head was already up your AZZ at that point. Good luck pulling it out (which your father should have done).
