Default 2017 or wait for 2019

The deals have started showing up again on left-over inventory of 2017 Z06's. However, the 2019's are supposed to have improved quality build and better paint, due to improvements at the assembly plant. Recognizing that the 2019 Z06 remains essentially the same car, what are thoughts on holding off on a 2017 and focusing on a 2019?

I hate paying anything close to full price so the deals on the 17's where to hard to pass up.

IMO it is really up to your budget and if you want to save$$ or get the newest thing. I have a 2017 and have no build, quality or paint issues. In 2016, I waited for a 2017 and there were some minor changes. One year of ownership, 5k miles, and car still looks and runs like new without any issues.

For me the budget was not an issue so if I were in your shoes and the 2018's are already out I'd wait and see what is new if anything for 2019. On the flip side, if you are looking for a deal and want to drive now, you can't go wrong with a 2017. I'm very happy with my 2017 Z06 and feel the quality/paint is excellent. The only question is if there is any appearance/mechanical changes in 2019. If the 2019 and 2018 are the same car, then get the deal on the 2018. Seems like every year there are year-end deals.

^^ Agree and you can’t be 100% sure the ‘19s will be any better. First year of a new paint shop doesn’t necessarily mean better paint. Are you willing to pay big $$$ for “better†paint? Good luck either way. You’ll love the car.

I'd snag a 17 at a rock bottom price. I don't think the paint issue is as bad as many think. I got mine in August and only regret not getting it sooner. There will always be something coming better. However it's more fun to drive than be worried about it.

Agree that waiting for the next best thing will insure that you never buy one. I thought the paint on my 2008 was fantastic. The hype over this new paint and assembly process would make one think that the difference will be remarkable, when it may be marginal. Only time will tell and meanwhile the 2017 inventory gets depleted.

Wish I had waited to sell my 08 until I purchased my new one, now that the GM loyalty rebate of $3000 is available. Sold it in August of this year. Wish GM had some grace period on ownership for loyalty rebate, to cover those that sell their GM car and shortly thereafter buy a new GM product.

Yes that sucks. I guess you could try to see if you can get it since it wasn't long ago. I just got my Z06 in August. Only thing I regret is not grabbing one in April when I started looking. I could be upset that the ZR1 is being released. However I'll forget about it each time I look at my Z :-)

ZR1 released at almost double the price? I have in my 20 percent discounted 2017 Z06.
Not upset 1 single tiny tiny bit! I'm adding parts to my 2015 Z06 to assemble the sleeper for hwy runs. More hp and lighter than a ZR1 at way less cost will be fun.

Save the money and buy the 2017 cars will be almost 100 percent a like
Plus you get the 2017 now!

Go for the 2017. Better yet, go for a used 2016. 2016 is the best deal of all C7 Z06s.

Apparently the order guide for the 2019 will be out on Nov 20th, 2017. I'd at least wait until then. You might learn about any potential changes.

You don't state how long you intend to keep the car. If 5 years or less, the 2017 will seem a lot older when you try sell it. Two model years on resale can make a big difference to certain buyers.

Just a few things to think about.

I'm waiting for the order guide for the 19's and then deciding what to do. I plan on Museum Delivery, so will probably go for a 19 after I see what "small" changes there are and pick it up next spring/summer. If saving some bucks is a priority for you go for a left over 17 or even 18 after the 19's are being produced next January. As mentioned, resale value of a 2 yr older model may also be important to you. For me, I buy and keep for a long time, so resale value isn't a priority, having the newest is more important to me.

Wait until they release the 2019 price guide later this month. Odds are the 2017s will still be there.

Probably the last car I will buy, so it will be kept a while. I had my 08 for 9.5 years before selling it with 148,000 miles.

Bought a 2017 Z06 back in April. Kinda pissed that this coming April it will already be 3 model years old, but I got such a good deal on it and love the car so much that I don't regret it one bit. Odds are the '19 models won't be very different so if you can get a '17 at a killer deal I'd do it and not look back.

Better yet, go for a used 2016. 2016 is the best deal of all C7 Z06s. You can get them with low low miles and save $20k or more.

These cars are very low volume with no meaningful changes even visible to the untrained eye. My 2015 turns just as many heads today because people rarely see a Z06 on the road. I guess if you live in Texas or metro Detroit things may be different, but in most areas of the country the C7 design is so unlike the past Cs that it will continue to look new.

I picked up a 2016 on a great year end deal last year and I've been very happy with it. If you can save 15-20% on the 2017 I'd vote take the discount and enjoy the car.

same here, I picked up my 16 3lz, z07, 108kmsrp for 81k at the red tag event last year 22% off, go with the 17 as that’s when the improvements were made.

Everyone keeps mentioning getting a killer deal on a 17. What is considered a great price ? If it’s new or used with less then 4000 miles and it has a sticker of 105-110 new. What is a good deal?
