Default 2017 ceramic brakes

hey guys, interested in a new z06 and was looking at a 2lz with the ceramic brake rotors option $7495 (ouch) is this the same brake package on the z07 option? I love the way they look but what are the drawbacks of them. {not gonna track the car}life expectancy on the street?
thanks Charlie,,,

Benefits include no brake dust, great bite, great looks, and since you don’t plan to track the car, the rotors should last as long as you own the car.

Negatives are higher replacement costs and extra care when removing wheels to prevent chips.

IMHO-not worth the price if not tracking, even quite a few trackers have posted they removed them to save for when they resale car. Just the iron rotors & OE pads will last about 80000 miles on the street & are completely satisfactory for tracking & heckuva lot cheaper (as you now know) to replace. If you accidently ding them during a tire/wheel change, even a small chip, they are ruined. Again just one man's opinion.

Yes same brakes and the Z07 package, had them on my first and have them on my second Z06, don't track my cars because I'm old, love the stopping and no brake dust, it's well worth it to me.

No brake dust and look awesome. Yes same brakes. If you don't track it they could last the life of the car from what I've read. I love mine. If you do have to replace them the rotors are about $1300 each and pads $800 a pair.

I had a 2015 Z06 with steel rotors now 2017 with Z07 package. I wasn't sure if I would regret the purchase but after 7 months of driving, I would absolutely buy CC without a doubt. The feel and responsiveness are unlike any brakes I have ever used. Just incredible stopping force I mean incredible if that wasn't clear. The only drawback is they are very touchy so a new driver would put you through the windshield be careful if you are the passenger :-). Brake dust is almost nonexistent which I have never experienced. Love that. And as said above they last the lifetime of the car if you drive normal. Not to mention they fill those wheels with a supercar look.

If you are a hardcore track person then you understand you pay to play anyway. Just the nature of this level of car.

Bites so hard, no brake dust, looks badass....

I might track the car once or twice while I have it so I don't think the cost of them affects me. Plus the discount on highly optioned cars is bigger so you're getting them at a big discount.

Lol. Yes I agree about the stopping power. I've shocked myself by hitting the brakes a bit too hard. Was glad there was no one on my ***. They are amazing.

Get a set of these (3 needed per wheel) to help with those wheel removals.

I am 50 years old and not rich but these new z06 have a serious hold on me lol. car I am looking at is a 2lz, msrp 98.500 dealer was talking about 80.500 +tax title. seems like a great deal? is this about what they are discounting them at? can list all options if needed.
thanks again Charlie,,,

Or you can get the iron brakes with ceramic pads and forego the brake dust. But the CC look great

forgot to add, I really like the z07"s front and rear spoilers a lot better than the standard spoilers. will they bolt on a non z07 car? also how much does the z07 option cost? the price for ceramic brake upgrade on the sticker is $7495

18% isn't bad. There are 20%-23% deals out there, but may not be the color/gearbox/options you're looking for. I got 19% off of mine 2 months ago.

I'd tell them you're willing to pay $78k (20% off) and leave your name/number.

Sounds like a fair deal to me. My 2lz was 99600 and I payed a bit under 87k in August. Get it and enjoy. It's truly amazing. I'm 48 and the wife says I act 16 again driving it :-)

Anybody have any idea how long Z07 brake pads would last under non track easy driving?

People say they'll last the "life of the car" if you don't track... I've read 100K miles with no tracking.

I've seen the rotors can last that long. But are you referring to the rotors, pads or both? The pads look super thick! I was curious about the pads since they are around $800 for the fronts!

If my Acura MDX pads can last 30k miles maybe these pads on my Z07 can make it to 100k! lol

Unless you drive the car like a grandmother there’s no way pads will last 100K miles; rotors yes if you don’t track and don’t allow worn pads to damage the rotors before replacement.

The Brembo CCBs are God's own brakes. Performance on the street they are not better than iron brakes, because you are tire limited.

On the track they reign. Good modulation, zero fade.

If you track a lot it might not be cost effective, I am not convinced of this. If you shop for pads and rotors on sale, I think you would find that over 5 years the cost of changing brakes to iron rotors would not pay off. A lot of variables here

I don't drive on the street a lot and they don't generate brake dust, don't squeal, and look bitchin'

But then you have to be a gear head to appreciate that last comment.
