Who's selling there Z06 for the ZR1?

You had no rational reason for your vette purchase, nor did I or anyone else. It's just the degree of irrationality we want to sink to or rise to depending on how you want to look at it.

I'm going to respond that there is absolutely no way that I plan on selling my '16 C7Z for a ZR1. No way....unless I happen to see one that I'd like to own and my business is still humming along. Retirement's already locked down with funds squirreled away over the decades. I'm just lucky enough to be playing with house money now.
On the other hand? If I want 750+ to play with? Callaway might be a reasonable upgrade, a less expensive one.
We'll see how this all rolls out in about 6 months. Yep.

I just traded my pristine ‘15 fully loaded A8 Z06/7 with 10K miles on it and was given $62K. This was, given the market, a good valuation as most other trades were coming in at around $57K. So in 31 months of ownership I lost $46K off of my purchase price of $108K. Of course back then everyone was paying MSRP or close to it.
Even though the ZR1 will be awesome and was on my radar, there was simply no way that I was going to spend $140K-$150K on one, only to find out that the A8 version, again, overheated on a road course. Not saying it will, just that I don’t have much faith in GM standing behind the product after the C7 A8 Z06 road course debacle re: overheating.
So I bought a 2018 AMG GT R. It gets delivered on the 27th.

bang for buck
If that were the metric, we'd all have Novas with 572 crate motors and ladder bars.

They didn't stand behind the Z06...so why should anyone believe they will stand behind the ZR1?

Why did you buy your Z06 over the base C7?
These are bought with that in mind.

Congrats on the new ride, Bish.
Please come back and report what you think of the rig. It seems like the real deal.

Im the same way. Love the 2016 Z07 too much to trade it in for a huge loss. The ZR1 only has 100 more HP, and new front end and a huge wing on the rear. Not enough for me to spend 130k on a new vette. Now if someone wants to give me what I bought it for then maybe? LOL

and M7.
In which both sacrifice something to the other car.
One owns the standing start and the other owns the road.
Which would still be true if you only owned one ZR1.

The Corvette is a sports car at heart and not a luxury trim car. The 1 lz MSRP of 80k can be inflated to near 120k. 50 percent more for essentially the same sports car on the street except lighter is better less is more
. Plus you have got past the huge losses 2-3 years later suffered
from reselling the loaded Corvette.
Take a big discount and buy now! No worries about being too insulted when you trade because you might not!

I'm seriously considering letting my 16 Z06 go for a ZR1. I have to see one in person first, and then it will depend on the starting sticker price. Either way, I still have a Corvette.

Totally agree with that statement. Lets face it this is the swan song for the C7 and GM knows there will be enough anxious people that will buy this car even if it overheats. Seeing how they really stepped up and took care of the Z06 people with overheating issues nobody should hold their breath.

Exactly.
Until some guys take a BIG leap of faith and take the car to the track and try to run it all day long in high heat, buying a ZR1 is problematic IMO.
Let's be clear...the ZR1 was designed as a Track Monster (and there is nothing wrong with that).
Simply look at the splitter and rear wing for confirmation.
I can't see the point of buying this beast and make it primarily a street car.
As a Z06 owner, I can comfortably say 650hp/tq. is rarely useful during my driving experience.
Sure, it's a mighty kick-in-the-butt during short bursts, but still...
Of course, YMMV.
