I updated my MRC and it's well worth it
I was finally able to update my magnetic ride control with the latest GM performance calibration a few days back. Gone is the floaty feeling in Tour mode yet it is still nice and soft. Sport mode is still firm but absorbs the bumps in the road better. Track mode feels around the same firmness but slightly less jittery on the street, not sure how it would perform at the track yet but I have no reason to doubt and improvement there too. Overall I can say that for me it was worth it.
Now I didn't visit a dealership, I try to avoid doing that at all costs just because of the time involved and my time is worth a decent amount these days. I have an MDI cable and an ACDelco/SPS subscription so I was able to make this happen in my garage one night. The standard procedure thats posted in the tech document asking for a VCI number isn't valid for this method or they changed the procedure, not sure. Maybe it has to do with the fact that I'm not a dealership and I'm independent. The ACDelco techline simply adds the performance calibration to the VIN # in SPS so you do a normal flash of the module and the new calibration automatically comes up as the newest update. They will bill you and it's a bit more expensive than the normal $350 through a dealership but again, my time is worth more. You can verify this by looking at SPS during the reflash procedure and see the calibration listed for the module.

Who did you purchase the the GMPP calibration from? Did you just call the techline and ask them to update your VIN with the calibration afterwards?

I never thought it was too bad before in track mode but I just went out for a drive to see if I could tell any difference and if there is it's pretty slight. But again I didn't think it was too bad to begin with.

I had my '17 ZO6 A8, non-ZO7 updated yesterday ($350 out the door). I'm very pleased with the results. The car rides noticeably smoother in both Tour and Sport. I also experience less "head toss" on rough/uneven surfaces. The rear end does feel more planted while turning when the surface is rough. I feel more confident that the rear end will stay put than I did previously. I can now go a bit quicker on rough roads with less chassis upset. Haven't tried Track yet, but may hit the track (Wild Horse Pass Motorsports Park) later this month.
I've followed the DSC/GM upgrade debate with interest. My two cents is that if you are looking for a worthwhile ride/handling upgrade for a relatively low price, then GM is the way to go. If you are looking for more adjustability and the ability to update your software, then, by all means, go with DSC. Disclaimer: I have not driven a DSC-equipped car, but I believe all the positive comments about DSC that appear on this forum. The great thing is that we have choices to improve an already great car. It also amazes me that such noticeable changes are possible without adding/changing any hardware!

Thanks.
I finally got around to calling the Techline and purchasing the calibration for my 16Z earlier. I just finished installing it this evening after updating my CTS first. Took less than a minute to download and reprogram the suspension module. Of course I will have to wait a couple of days to see if it was worth it.

I've also got an SPS subscription and an MDI. Are you guys just calling the AC Delco customer assistance line to get this done? Do they bill the credit card that's associated with your SPS account?
I'll gladly pay a small premium to not have to go to a dealer. That's exactly why I invested in this equipment in the first place.

I can't speak for NicD and his experience. But in a nutshell yes, that is the gist of it. However they required my Business Associate Code to affiliate the customer account with for billing.

Hi guys, my dealer is saying it’s going to take “a few hours” and that it “needs to settle” etc. I told him it should only be a download and that the car needs to rest 8+ hours overnight. He then said it will take a couple hours.
So so how long did it take you at the dealership?

Your dealer doesn't know WTF he's talking about.
Have the software downloaded (1/2 hour or so), drive your car home and leave it in the garage overnight.
In the morning, you're good to go.

One thing I noticed on the way home, which I’m not sure if it’s because the dealer changed some settings or if this came with the update, but now on my tachometer it states the speed limit of whatever road I’m driving on. Looks like a white and black speed limit sign. Kinda neat.
Also, I was talking about lowering on bolts in just the rear, and the dealer said he’s had many customers that lower just the rear. I really don’t want to lower the front, and the rear is so high on my car, I’d love to be able to drop just the rear.
Anybody do just the rear?
