Default Question about E30 fuel

Hey guys, I just wanted to get your take on possibly running E30 in my C7Z. I have a few bolts ons and I'm currently tuned to run 98-100 octane. I do not have a flex fuel sensor. I'm curious if running E30 would benefit me and if it would hurt anything? I have a nearby station that sells E30 right from the pump. Thoughts.

Higgs, correct me if I am wrong, but could you tune for a specific amount of E and then be handcuffed to only running that amount without the need for a Flex fuel sensor. Say for instance you were building and running a Z for 1/4 racing and you were only going to run E85, that is it, no other fuel. Could you tune for E85 without a sensor and leave it at that?

i used to do that before there were flex fuel kits. The only problem is when the amount of "100% E85" varies from E65 to E85, you have a big difference in fueling. that's not really a common issue though.

the real drawback is that one is tied to their laptop 100% of the time if adjustments are needed and as minor as that may sound, it will get tedious always chasing that stoich value.

Thanks Higgs. I just heard from my tuner and he said the same thing. I didn't realize how much it would lean out my AFR. Not worth the risk without a flex sensor and wideband to keep an eye on things.
