Default Spring Mountain Track Configuration question

I'm heading down for the May 7/8 owners course and I'm curious if they use the same track configuration every time?

Looking at the website, they have 18 different layouts, with the shortest being 1.5 miles and the longest at 6.1 miles.

What layout did you get?

2.2 mi course for me in 2015. Another group was on the east course, may have started one day after my group.

2.2 mile Original track (east) course for me on march 7,8.
There was a Cadillac group at the same time, using the west track.

Same here. turn 4 and the turn onto the back straight were the most challenging.

If you have a significant other bring them! They get to ride along with the instructors (and if you give them puppy dog eyes they'll let them go along for a couple of hot laps (showing what the car can really do with a good driver) with one of the instructors). It will pay big dividends.......I bought my wife a Z06 and she let me have the driving course. Now she's bugging me to go and be a driver. When I put money down on a Callaway SC757, the only thing she said was, I get to drive the course too right?

When I was at Spring Mountain last October 16-17, we used the Villeneuve 2.2 mi configuration.

I was on the West 1.5 course same days, Feb 22-23, 2016, as Bill was on the East 2.1 course. Different classrooms in different buildings.

I've been twice. Did the East course the first time and the Villenueve the second time.

Pretty confident we used "East 2.1" last March...the way things were set-up in class (with printed material and visual aids), it looks like they use the same set-up regularly, but not sure if it evolves over time.

Also, the COS classroom, was located towards the bottom right of the property (circled in RED), the condos we stayed in (circled in BLUE) and the club house (circled in GREEN). Its definatly not a "walking" from point A to point B resort.

When I went in April 2016 they had 2 courses open and going. They split us into 2 groups one red and the other blue I think the colors were. So east and west.

Thanks for all the replies
Looks like it's likely the East, but could be West or a couple others if it's busy.

Can't wait....

I think the 6.1 mile course would be an exhausting course to drive. Very little time spent on straights compared to all of the turning. Definitely would have some issues with the neck muscles after running a day on that course.

As most have said, the 2.2 is the course normally used, and yes, it's a great weekend. I've been there a handful of times, and had previously been on their 3.3 mile course a few times, but still learned a few things from the weekend. They also allowed me and one other fast guy to be in our "run group" on the second day, it was a blast!!
Have fun!!

Hi!
We start two programs those dates: one on east, and one at the north/south configuration. The west course has a different program starting on the 8th, so it's not available.
Both tracks are awesome! you really can't go wrong. The east is a tad shorter (2.1 vs 2.2 miles)
My favorite part of the north/south, is from turn 3 to turn 7. All the skills we teach (visual scanning, braking for balance, especially) are highly needed there! if you get turn 3 right, it just makes the chicane, turn 4 then 5a/b flow so nicely. It's very rewarding when you get it right!
The east track, I really enjoy the blast down the long straight, then getting turn 1 apex just right, leads to the uphill section (you see the sky!) then drop down to the more technical parts of it. really fun!
I'll post a couple of videos for both tracks soon (demo laps, not racing ones, lol)

Thanks! Is the North/South track also called the Lauda course? Can't wait to get there!

I'll watch for the demo videos.

Hi!
We mainly refer to the Villeneuve course (option A) as the north/south, Lauda config is one we use mainly in Level 2. it's slightly longer at 2.4 miles...
Here is a link to a demo lap of the north/south track, in a manual c7 z51!
This is not for max lap time, btw, it's an educational lap...
