Reprogrammed Transmission Control Module
I don't know if anyone else has had this issue, but I thought I would post my experience. I was driving on the freeway last Saturday and was in manual mode in my 2016 A8 Z06/Z07 running in 5th gear. I hit the paddle to shift down to 4th, it did nothing and the "Check Engine" light came on. I tried again and still nothing. I looked at the dash and it said D2, indicating I was in Automatic mode "2nd" gear. I stepped down on the throttle and it accelerated, but not very quickly and felt like I was dragging a boat anchor. I was close to home so shifted it ti Automatic mode, drove home and put it in the garage until I could get it to the Dealership on Monday. I started it Monday morning to take to the dealership. The "Check Engine" light was still on but as I drove, it felt like it was shifting normally. The Dealership took it in and called me later to say it was fixed. They had a service bulletin about the issue and had to reprogram the Transmission Control Module. I drove it home Monday evening and had no issues. I am planning to drive it this weekend and will keep an eye on it. Hopefully no re-occurrence. Anyone else run into this issue?
