Xpel Flaw
Noticed a minor flaw in my Xpel Ultimate installation. The edge of the Xpel has a bit of over hang, which is collecting dirt. I am sure the warranty would apply, particularly if it starts to peel. Car has around 1,400 miles since install. What do you think? Fix it under warranty now? Leave it and fix under warranty if it peels? Try to carefully cut off the overhang?

Rubbing alcohol won't clean it all the way. Once it gets under the film it's basically stuck there, especially if it's far underneath. Only thing you can do is try to peel it back further which will make it look even worse. I'd take it to the installer and let them see it and acknowledge that they need to fix it,whether that means cutting it away (will take 5 seconds) or replacing the film at their cost or under warranty if it's going to bug you that cutting it won't look flush. (Also, cutting it is going to leave more dirt to collect at the edge. May want to go ahead and give XPEL a call to give them a heads up as well. Definitely don'y cut it yourself or do anything to try and fix it other than cleaning it without showing it to the installer first, because then they can come back and say it's your fault.

Not a problem. Your installer should be able to fix that easily. I noticed 2 small imperfections (a small bubble and a little wrinkle) on my car (full car covering). I have a very conscientious installer, and he took care of it by heating and loosening the film, peeling it back, re-lubing the area and 'smoothing' it back down. Your imperfection right at the edge should be simple to fix. 9,000 miles on mine and not a blemish. (Justin at Clear Advantage) if you're in the St. Louis area).

Unfortunately, I cant go back to the installer. I had it installed at the dealership (in New Hampshire). So, I'd have to find someone in Chicago and raise it as a warranty issue I think.

In my expiecence they will just trim it back a little. Most installers leave themselves a little overhang (Some tolerance) and will trim it back as necessary....
The guy i have used would have the straightened up in about 15 min.. Deff fixable... Just find the best xpel guy in your area!

Is rubbing alcohol ok to use? What if you get some on the actual clear coat itself. I'm asking because my xpel has a mark on the front where something hit it but it also tore some of the xpel off in the same area.

Isopropyl alcohol is perfectly safe. It is even used to remove old wax (diluted but not a problem straight, especially w/70%) on finish before cleaning/clay baring/etc. when doing paint correction.

We're happy to help out and make this right, It looks like the install just got a little too close to the edge. Good for protection, but it can collect dirt if too far over the edge. A local installer in Chicago will be able to trim it back a little bit to fix that so it stops collecting dirt. Reach out to an installer nearby from this list - XPEL in Chicago - and ask them to take a look. Once that's done, they'll just trim it back. If you have any issues, give me a shout and I'll make it right. Keep us posted on the thread too
