I am slightly concerned with the cost of consumables for tracking the Z06 so I'm exploring other options. I am aware of the AP Racing big brake kit but am hoping to not spend 5k if I don't have to. Do you have any other recommendations for replacing the CCB with something cheaper to run that doesn't sacrifice stopping power? How do the factory steel rotors perform? What about Girodisc?

Keep the same calipers and go with the Girodisc replacements are the cheapest way I think Ben. It's a shame that there isn't a AP J-Hook replacement rotor for the CCMs.
I STRONGLY agree with you, wish I would have understood it sooner! I did go the AP route and am glad I did. I was going through the stock CCB pads in 2 to 3 track days sometimes only 4 (20 min sessions) per day. It was a joke. The joke was on me $$$$. I was so disappointed in the durability of the stock system. My 2014 C7 z51 stock brake pads held up significantly better and were WAY less costly. I knew the CCB cost more but believed the lie "they will last longer". Not just the $$$ but the pain in the A** to change pads like they were water at 1100 or so for just pads.
The stock pads are only 10 mm thick when new. Your 'wear sensor' will come on at 3 mm left I think. The AP racing kit I have has 25MM thick pads! And they seem to last forever and I feel NO reduction in stopping power, I actually like the feel better. Good luck and you are wise to realize it soon if you are going to track with any regularity...

How is the stopping power with the girodisc? What pads are guys using?

I was just telling the OP the options; I never replaced my CCMs with anything as I had excellent luck using them. In two years of track weekends I only had to replace the pads once. That was about 5 weekends per year, but my son was also driving the car, so double the number of run sessions.

Our StopTech STR Kit will be available in a few weeks, it will be a hair less than the AP kit but replacement rotors will be approx 350 each versus 600. They are going on our car that is headed to the Nurburgring so performance is definitely there.
