Default Window tint

I had my windows tinted on my 2016 z06. I believe some kind of film was applied to the windows.
i live in another state now and would like a darker tint.
Can a film be applied over the film that I already have, or does the lighter film have to be removed and a darker re applied.

any other options?

You should not tint at all, its dangerous and may in fact be illegal where you live. Besides it looks horrible and cheapens the look of a fine automible. JMHO,

There are many different tint levels available, they will remove what you have and reapply what you want. Makes any car look better as long as you have a good tint shop.

I'm am aware that there are state laws on how much tint is allowed. I lived in Mn where everything but high taxes are against the law. Thats why mine are not as dark as I want them.
I llive in a much warmer and sunnier area these days, so looking to darken.
thanks for your opinion.

LMAO! How absolutely absurd and definitely just an opinion...one that is in the extreme minority at that.

To answer OP's question - don't stack tints. Remove what is on there and go with something darker if that's what you're looking for. Get a quality tint that reflects the heat. Well worth it!

As others have stated, the original film gets removed and new film gets applied.

And FYI? There are now new tints available that let quite a bit of visible light in (making driving at night MUCH easier) while still blocking UVA, UVB, and IR transmissions. Much cooler interiors.

Do your homework before you talk to a shop or two.

Most shops will remove for free if your buying top of the line Ceramics and such or $40 - 50 bucks most of the time. Remove the old tint for sure..

Well, you know what they say about opinions . . .

My opinion: its your car, do what makes you happy. But as others have said, I would be reluctant to stack tint layers out of concern for them delaminating. Tint is pretty easy to remove so just take off the old and apply the new and dont worry about it.
