Oil change interval after 500 mile break in
My scheduled maintenance says 7500. But I was thinking 5500? I noticed some are doing one at 1000 or 1500miles. Is that neccessary

I just left the dealership yesterday for the 500 mile change. I spoke to the corvette tech before I left. I told him I would be back at 1500 miles for another oil change and he told me its not necessary. This came from the same tech that over filled my car by .5 quarts.
I plan on doing a 1500 mile oil change regardless of what he said. Check your oil level though, I had to siphon out a half quart when I got home. It amazes me how dumb/careless these mechanics are.

The car will let you know when you need an oil change- look at your oil life indicator.
Mileage is not the only important factor, as time is also taken into consideration. I parked my car last winter with 70% oil life left and it was down to 25% when I took it out of the garage in the spring.

This is my oil change interval record as i keep everything written down.
500 mile oil change - done at chevy dealer (M1 5w30)
4,604 miles - M1 extended performance 5w30 (had a shop do it since they did my xpipe anyway)
7,906 miles - M1 extended performance 5w30 (done myself).
Car has 10,3xx miles now.
Oil change i'm going to do next month before summer ends. I'm at 38% oil life right now. I should be around high 20's% next month when it would be the time i would do it.
Oil is cheap, easy to do, and gives you peace of mind so i don't mind changing my oil prematurely.

Change mine at 2000-2500 miles. Always have always will. I use the new mobil1 5-50 fx - x2 oil year round . Best of both worlds. Car makes 634/690 rw. Next month new 2300 heartbeat go on. Oil is cheap motors aren’t. Also remember the filter goes first. Think about it. It’s the size of your clenched fist. How much crap can it really hold

The OM states what you have to do and Oil Changes aren't required at 7500 miles. The manual says check the oil level and oil life percentage and change the oil if required by the OLM. You also have another requirement of needing to change the oil once per year no matter what the OLM % reads. After the 500 mile oil change there are no oil changes based on mileage. That kind of stuff was thrown out the window over 20 years ago.
