I’m having an issue with my paint being thin on the edge and having primer showing through. I saw a thread or two that addressed this issue that others have had. If you have any pictures of your paint issues or can direct me to paint issue threads I’d appreciate it. Thanks for your time.

Are you sure no one has been overzealous with a buffer as this can lead to the issue you describe?
Not sure if it is a buffer issue or not! Just wondering if anyone had an issue with thin paint. It does not matter as my 3/36 has expired. Just wondering!
I just started researching this thin paint issue after detailing the paint on my 2017 Grand Sport (Arctic White). I could feel contaminants on the paint after I washed it. With winter on the way, I decided to work on the paint and get a good layer of protection on it. This past week I did the following:
1. Washed
2. Clay bar
3. Polish (lightly with orbital buffer)
4. Sealant for protection
5. Carnuba wax for shine
As I was applying the sealant I noticed a very faint dark area, mabye an inch long, along the crease (top edge) of the quarter panel. It is barely noticeable but there nonetheless. I can only assume that I burned through the clear coat with the orbital buffer, which is disappointing. The orbital buffer is pretty low speed and I was very careful. I am not a rookie and have detailed several cars in the same fashion and never had this problem. I suppose I am the one to blame for the blemish but I think the underlying issue is that the Total Coating Thickness is very thin. Not to mention the well known Orange Peel issue.
So....if you set out to do ANY kind of paint correction, be very careful.
I will try to get a good photo of the blemish tonight when I get home.
Just my 2 cents

this sux. Sorry to hear about this. Question for you. I plan on polishing my new GS in preparation to apply a ceramic coating when my vehicle arrives in a couple of weeks. Do you consider the Corvette C7 paint to be "soft" or is it considered more of a "hard" paint. Also, is your vehicle from the new paint shop (2019)? TIA
My 2017 black has a tiny spot, you can see primer when you open the rear hatch - I’d take a picture but it’s asleep for the winter- came from factory that way.
