Have you had a cracked or bent rim?
#21
One slightly bent rim at 300-400 miles, GM said go F yourself
Road force balancing removed any vibration. I personally think it came from the factory like that since my first 200 or so miles was driving home from the dealership in a light snow storm. Needless to say, I was driving very slow.
Bought wheel and tire insurance few months later
One cracked rim at around 7,000 miles
Don't know how it happened.

Cracked stock rear rims before 11,500 miles
2016 ZO6, 2 cracked stock wheels before 11,500 miles. Never tracked, only occasional spirited driving otherwise babied vehicle. South Jersey roads are horrible. Dealer covered one replacement rim, the other I purchased on line for 500 dollars with 27 dollars shipping (original OEM new rear rim). Despite this issue I still love this car and the few mechanics I talked to so far told me its the low profile tires not the rims that are the problem. That being said I also have 2 BMWs that have had bent rims from the roads around here but none that actually cracked. Since I have converted them to non run flats I have had no more issues with the BMWs. Perhaps thats the answer for the vette as well? Anyone with run flats and cracked wheels seen improvement in this problem with non run flat tires?

My car had three bent and one cracked when I bought it. Dealer paid to repair them, but it really bothered me. Gave me an excuse to get some aftermarket ones anyway.

We need you guys to post pics. Help us see these cracks so we can better find them should we have them.
and this poll is useless as not even half of the voters posted here. Maybe 30%.
need new one with vote being public keep em honest for both sides.

Two cracked and three bent by 10k miles. Never abused, tracked or hit any potholes. Went to forged wheels and Conti's. end of problem and handles and drives like a different car.

If you have experienced a Cracked or Bent Rim, suggest you report it to NHTSA.

'18 Z07 - No cracked or bent wheels, 1,902 miles. I have the car in sport mode 99% of the time. The car had Cup 2s for the first 1,425 miles. Now Pilot A/S 3+ run-flats. Good luck or not enough miles yet, you tell me?
I know my friend's '15 Z06 had ongoing issues with multiple cracked wheels leaking air. It's one of the reasons he sold it this past February (plus he wanted to dump it since his bumper-to-bumper warranty was about to expire).

One slightly bent front rim. I've hit some bad bumps on the interstates. Probably what did it. Not sure of mileage as the only reason I know about it is when I was getting new tires they pointed it out. They were able to road force balance it out so its not bad.

maybe the reason why some have had good luck, including myself, with not cracking or bending wheels is because I switched to continental tires non run flats. Its transformed the car and absorbs the bumps and imperfections in the road I definitely felt when I had the pss tires.
so add that as another perk in switching to conti lol.
